Looking for some guidance/reassurance please! DD is 10 months old and frankly, seems to have a shocker of a temper. She is very adept at throwing tanties already- I really thought this was more of a 2+ thing but I seem to be wrong on that! She will frequently (perhaps 5-6 times a day) put her arms out, clench her fists together and then go rigid for a few seconds like she's shaking with anger. It is usually when she has something taken off her, or when she's upset about something, occasionally when she's very excited. And now and then, for no obvious reason. Is this normal? Anyone else's baby do this?

Sorry OP but I'm having a giggle at the image of her little fists and arms being so cross! Sounds cute...I pity you in a few years though.

Yep. Mine did, although he'd throw himself on the ground and bash his fists on the floor. I'm hoping it means he's getting the tantrums out of the way early.
The nice thing about this age is that they're easy to pick up and distract! |

I'd say it's normal, but if you're worried there is no harm in getting it checked out. |

DS started having tantrums at around 11mo, as did other babies in my mothers' group, so yes, I'd say it's normal. The tantrums died down for a few months and are just starting up again (he's 20mo now).

My 10 month old does the fist clenching/rigid body thing when she is excited, or when she's had enough of eating. She's also good at throwing things she doesn't want away, or waving her hands about to get your hands away. And trying to give her panadol or checking to see if more teeth are coming is a major battle - mouth snapped shut & throws herself about like crazy. Fiesty little thing!

Oh good so it's not just my son.
He's been chucking tanties since birth. Yep, I'm holding on to my hat, too. But I do like that he knows his mind |

DS2 threw tantrums from 6 months - threw himself face down on the floor, arms pounding the ground, screaming his head off. He still throws great tantrums now at 2.5yrs when he doesn't get his own way. The intensity has never really changed, but at least they didn't get even worse at 2
