I just wanted to let you all know a happy story. I didn't start trying for my first baby until I was 35yrs old. It took me 9 months to conceive him and that's after lots of diligent charting and perfectly timed BDing. That last month, the one I fell pregnant I didn't ovulate until cd38!! I know this for sure bc I had bt's the day prior and was tracking my cycle so carefully. That month I fell pregnant and got a very very faint BFP at 9dpo!!!!!!!!!! I could NOT BELIEVE it! Considering it took a little while to conceive my first little man, I started ttc again when he was just 5mths. I ended up learning that I had blocked tubes and had a laparoscopy and HSG to diagnose and clear them. I was told that my tubes were scared from an infection I'd got after my CS with baby number 1. I tried clomid, no luck. We had a couple of chemical pregnancies (horrible horrible name for them) which broke my heart. One thing about having a child already and ttc is that it is very painful to realise that time's ticking away and your family as you envisage it isn't working out. Somehow already having a child made me want another child more than I had the first time. It was as much for my child as it was for me iykwim. I fell pregnant on my 5th round of IVF. I was THRILLED!!!! My FS said my cervix was very long and she felt that the previous embryos hadn't been placed deeply enough. She must've been right bc after having my 2nd boy, I went back for another and fell pregnant first try (ivf) and then again after that... first try again with ivf. I now have 4 beautiful little boys and some real experience that has helped me to understand infertility and to know the sheer joy (and difficulties associated with) of parenting.
I don't get in here much but just wanted to share my experience.
I hope those of you who're ttc are blessed soon with a healthy pregnancy and those of you who aren't, please know that when it happens to you, it will be the perfect time and your little child will be the very one you were meant to have.
