I have been wanting to get into a particular specialty of nursing for over a year now - very specific and difficult to get into (pain management) as there aren't many jobs. I have the background and have done some study but have been lurking for the opportunity.

I approached them earlier this year about doing some time with them and have chatted with them on and off. I did one shift but life caught up with me.

I got an email yesterday from them asking me if I was interested in doing more shifts with them as they have recently got more funding.

Oh yes indeedy. biggrin.gif

And what makes it better is that I was told (by one of the seniors) that they only take the very best. So they obviously think I have what it takes.

YAY ME

Me too. I am starting my grad program soon and will be thinking about specialising. What does a pain management nurse do exactly?

I have a love hate relationship with our pain team, as I work in ICU. I do, however respect their knowledge and input when it comes to weaning sedation, and in particular burns and other neuropathic type pains.

Congratulations. there is nothing quite like your own niche, I know I've found mine and I love it!
