Recommendations for a nice restaurant in Crows Nest, For a birthday dinner

Hand over the chocolate and no one gets hurt
A close member of the family has their birthday just before Christmas and with everything else going on at this time of the year, nothing has been organised to celebrate. I'd love to book a nice restaurant for dinner, for about 6 people, in Crows Nest, close to where they live. Now, I don't know this area at all - does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere nice for a meal? It doesn't have to be fine dining but somewhere that has a nice atmosphere and good food. I'm googling restuarants but nothing is leaping out at me. Italian would be there preference, I think but I'm open to all suggestions. TIA!

There are so many great restaurants along Willoughby Road and the Pacific Highway, but I dont much like any of the Italian ones. But these are some I like. The Burlington is one of the more upmarket ones http://www.burlingtonbardining.com.au/ Waqu has a fun modern Japanese degustation http://www.waqu.com.au/ The Uncorked restaurant at the top of the Union Hotel (more North Sydney) is great. http://www.unionhotel.com.au/uncorked Garfish is lovely for fish (al fresco dining). http://garfish.com.au/ Mumu Grill for steak/meat dishes (al fresco) http://mumugrill.com.au/ Rangoon Colonial Club - Posh Indian http://www.rangooncolonial.com.au/

Assuming you mean Crows Nest in Sydney, I haven't had great Italian there, but if you like steak, La Grillade is very nice. It's not cheap though, so may be a bit much for 6 of you. If you are willing to travel down the road to Mosman, Il Perugino is lovely too.

Not sure about a good italian restaurant but I love mumu grill and garfish - we go there often

Thank you for those recommendations! I think I may have to ring around and see where I can make a booking, at this late stage, but there are lots of options now, which is great. Thanks again

If you really want Italian, Pino's is okay. Pretty traditional menu - pizzas, pastas, mains etc I also love Garfish (majority of menu is fish, though). Mumu is good too. Have also heard good things about BahBq ( Brazilian BBQ restaurant), but haven't tried it myself yet.
