Hi, I thought I would pop in and say hello.

I am 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant with identical twins.

Any words of wisdom to help me though this pregnancy?

I also have Irish Twins, 10.5 months apart, will be 2 and 3 when the twins arrive.

Thank you

The archives of this forum are great. I reckon I skimmed through about 100 pages of history when I first found out and was gagging for information (Although I don't already have kids so probably have more free time for that sort of thing).

You might like to join us over in the expecting multiples thread!

Where are you located and do you know what hospital will be treating you? You will have a local multiple birth association, and you will find lots of information on the Australian multiple birth association website, they also have a forum which is well worth visiting though a bit painful to begin with as you need to make 5 posts before most of the content opens up to you.

And, here is an Australian book that I borrowed from the library and really enjoyed and seems to generally get high praise:
Twins
A Practical Guide to Parenting Multiples from Conception to Two Years Old
By Katrina Bowman, Louise Ryan

Good luck!

huge congratulations on your twin pregnancy.
My only advice, rest as often as you can (which is hard with older twins). Also Zantac was my best friend.
Pop over to the expecting multiples group in specialised pregnancy buddy groups and share your pregnancy with other expectant multiple mums.
Congratulations again biggrin.gif

Congratulations! I have twin daughters, the first year is full-on but they are a joy.
My advice would be to definitely rest as much as possible and don't be afraid to eat what you need to, you're growing 2 babies and they need all the calories they can get, especially from the second trimester onwards. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!

My older 2 were 2 and 3.5 when our twins were born. I found the transition from 2-4 easier than the transition from 2-3, and being so close in age the older 2 tended to keep themselves occupied while I was busy with the twins.

Pregnancy was very hard though, I had terrible morning sickness and SPD. My husband picked up a lot of the slack with parenting and housework and I had to lower my standards (which is handy for when there are 2 newborns in the house anyway!). Rest as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Seek out your local AMBA, mine runs a weekly playgroup which I unfortunately struggled to get to (1 car family) but would've been wonderful! Other mums who know what you are going through are invaluable!

Congratulations, no advice but from a similar experience, if you can deal with Irish twins than you can certainly cope with standard twins!

Congratulations.

I have boy/girl 12 week old twins and a 3 year old and am loving it! I got to 37 plus 2, had natural birth and am exclusively breastfeeding them. Let me know if you have any questions, am happy to share my experience with you.

Definately join your local multiple birth association. Mine had expectant parent nights which were great plus a big library, lots of playdates/playgroups/events, etc and a private facebook page which is very helpful.

What hospital are you going through?
