So we are looking at going to William Angliss hospital in Ferntree Gully for my second baby and I really want to try for a VBAC after having to have an emergency C-sec.
Do you recommend this hospital and who would you recommend as a fantastic OB for a VBAC? Who would you also steer clear of.... could you please PM me with these names Public patient no PHI Also we are looking at Boxhill Hospital too in case the Angliss isn't great. What do you ladies think of Boxhill Hospital? Thank you so much in advance. This post has been edited by TwoLoves: 16/12/2012, 09:56 PM |

I went there and cannot find the words to tell you how much I hated the staff there.

I had a different experience to the PP, I went to William Angliss and I would never go elsewhere again.
I had my first two at Knox Private and was (to put it mildly) extremely disappointed. Had my third at WA and they were great. Food sucks though |

My sister gave birth there to 4 babies, over a 17 year period. She had a wide range of experiences, which were really to do with the Angliss having some great staff... And some midwives from hell. So I think it really depends on who you get, which sadly you have no control over.
As for Box Hill, a friend of mine got PTSD from a horrific birth experience there 4 years ago. And my Dad was in there just recently (not birth related, obviously!) and I was pretty appalled at his level of care. These are just my experiences, but I would suggest the Angliss over Box Hill. Good luck with everything, OP. |

I had my first at the Angliss and loved the whole experience there. We would have had all our children there but we moved regionally for number 2 and then had to go to Monash for the next 3 due to problematic pregnancies.

I have no experience with the Angliss maternity ward, other than the tour I did two years ago when I was looking at the possibility of going there.
But, my older sister attempted a VBAC at box hill hospital (and I had my DD at BHH), they were very supportive of my sister, and I found the midwives were mostly great (you will always get some that you don't like, anywhere you go). The Angliss and BHH are both run by Eastern Health. |

We are currently booked into the Family Birth Centre at the Angliss (due 12 days away!), and have been extremely happy with the midwives and the support from the hospital so far. We went for a tour around the whole hospital and were happy with what we saw. I've had lots of friends and people go there and they have always said good things about it.
We were originally booked into Healesville Hospital, but had to change at 20 weeks due to H'ville closing it's maternity ward suddenly. The midwives at the Angliss took pity on us and were very accommodating and made sure we got a spot at the Birth Centre. When we have actually delivered there, I'll come back to report on the experience for you. As for Box Hill, my brother and sister in law have been there twice in the past three years. The first was a c-section as bubs was breach, and the second was going to be a VBAC, but bubs just didn't want to come naturally, and it ended up being another c-section. They have been very happy with Box Hill, but it is a bigger hospital, and they sometimes felt more like a number than anything else. The bonus with Box Hill is that it is one of the best hospitals in Melbourne for anything baby related. People are actually referred there from city hospitals because of their surgeons and doctors. |
