So I was talking to my sons psych yesterday and mentioned I am completely exhausted. She asked how far along I am and I told her 29 weeks and she was surprised I was tired. Apparently I am supposed to be having an energy surge during the second trimester. I thought I was actually now 3rd trimester and being tired was part of the deal.

So is it too early to be tired a lot?

I don't think the heat, Xmas and life with another child are helping the situation huh.gif but wasn't expecting to be questioned about it and treated like it was completely abnormal. Sorry I am feeling a bit venty about it.

I found I was energetic in comparison to falling asleep in bed at 6:30pm when I walked through the door, and having two naps each day on the weekend, like I was in the first trimester. Compared to not being pregnant? I was still exhausted original.gif

However, it's always worth mentioning to your doctor and anaemia is not uncommon during pregnancy.

Does this person have children? Could be a perspective issue.

You should have/about to have your iron levels checked as its routine? Maybe ask your dr if they havent said anything about it.

At this stage with my second pregnancy I was just so tired. I asked my OB what was wrong with me. His answer:

You are in your late 30's, have a toddler and you're pregnant. That is what is wrong with you!

I was thinking about iron. I am having dizzy spells too and just have no energy, it's like my arms and legs are heavy all the time and I just have to sit down. I better get it tested.

Ehill you just described me to a tee. I keep telling dh I am too old to be doing this. I am also prone to announcing this is the last time lol.

I felt (and still feel) exactly the same, had my iron levels checked and I'm anaemic. Iron tabs haven't done that much but am hoping my energy levels pick up soon (am 35wks)

I thought the same thing JillyJellyBean. If you have never been pregnant well you just cannot understand/know how tiring it can be.

Maybe she was coming from a good place of concern for you but it is just so annoying when people make you feel as though you should be one thing when you are another. I don't blame you for feeling venty about it OP.

As another pp suggested, maybe just to be on the safe side get your iron levels checked just in case you are on the low side.

Yeah the fictional 2nd trimester energy burst. Got it for an entire two days. No one else I know had it and the third trimester nesting, only one person I know actually 'nested' everyone else just saw the mess and went 'meh'.

Yep! I got that second trimester 'burst' of energy for 3 weeks and now I'm stuffed.
