Home Brand stuff sucks, I use Finish and buy it in big quantities from Big W.

I use the cheapest powder in the box from aldi. Dishes come out sparkling clean every time.

ETA: I use white vinegar as rinse aid

We used to use Morning Fresh Dishwasher powder until Morning Fresh Dishwasher Gel came out. It's great. It really gets the grease and muck off everything. The only downside is that the drain filter at the bottom of the dishwasher has to be cleaned more often because all of the grease and muck really accumulates there. Better than on the plates and cups! I've only seen it at Coles and Chemist Warehouse.

DH is the one who uses the dishwasher in our house, and he doesn't like tablets because they generally didn't dissolve fully when we tried them. He also likes to be able to control how much detergent is being used and get it exactly how he likes it.

We use white vinegar as the rinse aid. We tried the one by Finish but it left streaks and marks on things. Plus, DH and DD have chemical sensitivities so we didn't like the thought of having a chemical coated all over our eating things. The vinegar leaves everything nice and shiny with no chemical residue.

About once a month he cleans the inside of the dishwasher by running an empty cycle with either Descale Magic or bicarb in the detergent section, and vinegar in the rinse aid section. It helps to keep the pipes and everything nice and cleans and stops any yucky smells. Descale Magic is in the cleaning section of the supermarket in a small blue box. It's based on bicarb and other natural chemicals.

Congratulations on moving into your house PBQ!

Used to use Coles Green choice but they no longer make it sad.gif We have just tried Earth Choice tablets but have to cut off the "dissolvable" plastic wrapping off each tablet as it doesn't dissolve properly nno.gif
When we first had a dishwasher, we found that Finish didn't work well for us, too strong (our dishes weren't dirty enough?? laughing2.gif ) and used to cut tablets in half, otherwise end up with residue on dishes etc.

So these are not what I'd recommend at the moment, would love to hear what others do recommend.

Oh, and buy a small packet first in case it doesn't work as well for your machine, so you're not stuck with 20+ tablets that you can't use.

I prefer finish quantum hands down, it's expensive (when not on special) but it really does do the job well. A close winner in my books I've found is fairy dishwasher tablets - they are good as well.

I also buy the finish rinse aid as well. It really does make a difference!

What ever you do - do NOT buy the woolworths select dishwasher tablets, they are terrible! I got these thinking I would save a lot of money and that all dishwasher tablets were the same - not so! It was horrible, some of the tablets wouldn't dissolve properly and left a residue on all the dishes and cups - we had to rewash everything in the sink to rinse off the residue.

Used to use Finish, now we use the Aldi ones and they are good. Dissolve well, dishes are clean and they are much cheaper. Was not a fan of any of the other cheap ones though.

Finish. At the moment we have their "Powerball" range because Scoopon (or someone like them) had an insanely cheap deal for them. Have enough to last a year or more!

We also used to only use the Finish Quantum...tried some Aldi tabs after looking at an Aldi mum review, and can't complain. They do the job well, and are super cheap. We use Morning Fresh rinse aid, but I have been meaning to give vinegar a shot.
