Last christmas I gave my 10yo niece a subscription to Total Girl which she loved. She asked for another subscription this year as she loved getting something every month in the mail. This year I went with this one as her mum said she was looking at the mag in the newsagency and thought it was 'cool':

Thanks for the Dolly suggestion, I was a little hesitant re this mag cause if I remember (which was a long time ago) it did contain stuff that might not go down well with her mum..... I might pop into the newsagent and check one out.

I did look at the Total girl but didnt know if it was "too young" but will check that out too.

Thanks ladies....

Another sunrise, another day to get it right
My 12 year old has had total girl for a few years and has asked for her subscription to be renewed for another year.

I read Dolly the other day in a Dr's surgery as I was expecting her to want to upgrade soon, but to be honest, I'm glad she likes Total Girl and I don't know if I would be comfortable with Dolly. While it's not that bad, it's definitely no longer for innocent girls. I remember reading it at 12.

if she is really obsessed with fashion why not get a proper couture mag like vogue or harpers? tbh the mags for young girls are just pure fluff but if she really has a keen interest in fashion (not just teen trends) it might be very inspiring for her original.gif

+1 for the above.

It's a fantastic magazine - They usually feature a lot of up coming Australian designers and interviews and info regarding getting into the industry.

I find it less commercial and narrow minded then Dolly.

I ordered a Total Girl subscription for my 11yo just yesterday. I felt Girlfriend and Dolly was a little too much for her to take in (and myself) whereas TG was a bit of fluff on all sorts.
