Seriously, how do I stop my 16.5 month old DD from drinking the bath water?

It's not like she doesn't get enough water in her everyday life - quite often we have to chase her around with a cup to get her to drink because she doesn't want any more water - but she still insists on drinking from the bath.

Whatever she can use to scoop the water up she does - she even fights us to get the facewasher we use to clean her, so she can suck the water out of it. If we took away anything she could use she would have no bath toys left.

It is so gross. Chances are she's peed in there, there's definitely food in there. Ugh ugh ugh.

Then there's her habit of spending half her play group time crunching sand...

I run the tap and the kids drink from the running water. They act as if they have been water starved all day. If I give them a cup of fresh water they drop it in the bath uninterested.

My 15 month old son does it as well... have no idea why!!.. I keep the face cloth away from him after I have washed him, because yuck.. poo bum! He now like to pretend he is drinking from bath toys.. which is cute, but sometimes he still does.

my 5 yr old still does occasionally, although he prefers to drink from the tap. My almost 3 yr old loves nothing more than a big, refreshing drink of bath water.

I let it be. Unless she's been real filthy. She's grow out of it.

Doink!
DD does this too... and tries to suck up the water that collects on the edge of the bath sick.gif

Although I have to admit, I would 1000x rather drink the water coming out of my showerhead than a glass of water.

My DS did it for a while to. It pretty much stopped when we stopped reacting to it.

He is very busy testing boundaries at the moment and loving the reactions he is getting. Thinks it's hilarious!

Now, if he even tries to drink the bathwater I distract with something.

My 16 mo does it too, I try not to worry about it, we give him a rinse off in the shower before hand so he isn't filthy. Who knows if they pee in there or not, just think of it as building immunity wink.gif

Now it's the constant standing up in the bath that really worries me!

Yeah, my DS does it too. We tried discouraging him by saying "yucky!" but of course he thought that was HILARIOUS and now drinks/sucks specifically to get that reaction. I kinda remember sucking on the face washer in the bath as a kid, I lived. I think it's part of learning about water. I've just decided to let it go & not stress. At least the pee is well diluted wink.gif

DD who is 3 still drinks bath water. Amongst my group of parent friends, all children have drank bath water (some past the age of 5). I wouldn't worry about it too much!
