F it!
Morning!

DH and are starting to go around in circles thinking about boys names but just wanted to get an idea what others think of Peter.

You don't hear it much these days and I have a feeling its a bit old fashion but I do think Pete is a great name for a boy and Peter a good solid name for a man, also its my Dad's name so I like it even more.

James is definitely our chosen middle name.

Thoughts??

I think Peter James is great - Pete or PJ are great nicknames.

Lovely!

You certainly don't hear it anymore - he'll get to be 'unique' without random y's!

Plus he will be able to listen to Peter and the Wolf with an extra special resonance.

love it OP, as PP have said normal without being overly common (we've gone the same way, this baby will be Timothy, not an 'out there' name, but not one you hear all the time these days)

I agree Peter is not an 'in' name atm - however I think it is classic and timeless enough to still be very usable - would not think Peter an odd name for a baby at all.

Con Sprezzatura.
There's nothing wrong with it, but I do find it a bit meh.

If it were me and I really loved the idea of it, I'd look at the variants to see if one of them grabbed me as having a bit more spark? Maybe Piers (but that might not go so nicely with James...dilemmas!)

Great name. I am very fond of a number of grown-up Pete's.

I don't mind Peter at all, but then I'm a bit stuck in the '50's and also like Richard and Simon!

I do know a few younger Peters, they are all Greek I think it's still fairly popular in the Greek Australian community. But I don't think it's overly popular, and it is classic and timeless.

I agree on Simon, I also like Robin, Christopher and Adrian.
