I need ideas ASAP! please!

I live in a house joined to another house by a wall. it seems our bedrooms are back to back.... anyway all went well for awhile after the new tenant moved innext door, he seems nice, no dramas besides the odd party. Until the last week - he seems to have acquired a new girlfriend and they are having sex every single night!

the problem is, I dont think theyre even that loud but its just that our walls are joined so i hear everything. i personally woukdnt care but DD is 11 and very impressionable, and will soon hear it also. i just heard them now so i turned up my music, which has annoyed DD but i dont want her hearing sex noises!!!!

how can i subtly let them know???? this is awful!

Just drop a note in their letterbox.

Keep it light - ie: "hi Neighbour. Hate to do this to you, but did you know our bedroom walls join and are really thin? I'm as surprised as you as I didnt realise how thin they are. Congrats on the new girlfriend by the way...."

After that, I guess you need to decide how you want to proceed. I would probably ask about sharing the cost of insulating your joining wall so you can both have some privacy.

The other option of asking him to play music / the tv is that you will possibly get blasted at 3am. OR he will get louder because he thinks its funny.

If you don't want to do the polite note thing maybe you should have loud sex and make him realise for himself how thin the walls are. Or if you don't like being passive aggressive, tell him you think his girlfriend is faking and give him advice on how to do it better.

If you can hear him, then surely he can hear you as well...

You could always fake it - but make some loud noises - he'll probably figure it out.

Well, since your problem sounds JUST the same as this one from Slate's Ask Prudie column last week, you could try her advice.

QUOTE
Q. Hearing Intimate Moments From Neighbors: I own and live in a semiattached house in a large city. The house adjacent to mine is owned by an landlord and rented out. The tenants and I share the wall between our master bedrooms. In a nutshell, I hear EVERY MINUTE of their intimate encounters. I'm in no way asking how to get them to stop. They are consenting adults and can be as intimate as they wish. My question is what to do about being woken up several times a week by their cries of ecstasy. I have so far been able to resist knocking my knuckles on the wall to alert them to their racket, but I'm an early riser and am really not interested in learning on a four-or-five-night-a-week basis how good the male partner is. Please advise.
