Hi,
I'm interested in taking my soon to be 2yr old to kindermusik next year. She loves music, can sing in tune and makes up her own words to songs, so I think she'll love it (and I'd like some more ideas). Has anyone any experiences of kindermusik to share? Thanks! |

I've taken all 3 of my children to Kindermusik since they were about 6 months old. My eldest is now 8.5yrs.
Some people don't like it because it isn't as 'advanced' as they would like for their brilliant children. Or it does stuff that is easily replicated at home. I personally found it great because it forced me to focus on my child for that period each week (not so much my first born but the subsequent children). At home, I would always be busy with other stuff, so it was good to slow down and not be distracted. Then, at home, I can put the music on and the child will remember the activities and play/entertain themselves. Ok, I sound like a lazy mother now LOL. Go along to a trial lesson and see how you enjoy it. |

Thanks, I've just been offered a trial session. Only difficulty is I'll have to bring my newborn along so I'm not sure how that will go. The teacher has said it's fine but I'm not sure how it'll pan out. But the trial session should be a good test of it I guess.

In our classes, the newborn (or crawler) was fine. I used to leave them in in the pram/capsule in a corner of the room. I'd sit nearby but it doesn't make a difference because we are constantly up and down. If the baby slept through, it was a bonus, if not, I'd just pick them up and hold them. The older child was normally okay because they still got to do stuff and for anything I couldn't assist with, the teacher would help.
When we had crawlers, I would set up a rug with toys and the baby would be relatively happy there for a while. The biggest issue is extra curious children going over for a poke. I found a muslin over the pram/capsule helped. And most of the time, the lessons are more interesting than a baby. |
