Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to get things organised for baby No. 2. I pretty much have everything but I'm REALLY stuck on what bottles and steriliser to get for baby.

Baby will be FF from Day 1 (pls not judgement). With DD I used the Avent Bottles with Nuk Teats (found that these teats were a lot wider at the base and therefore less air got into DD mouth).

I hated the Avent bottles for the leak factor but loved their mircowave steriliser!

So just wanted some advice/ recommendations on other baby bottles OR have the improved the Avent ones in the last year??

The closer to nature bottles were always good when I had DS a few years ago now though. I am planning on using them with my baby who is due in March.

I don't use bottles full time, just for DP to do a feed & bond with baby.

I am in love with lifefactory glass bottles with a silicone sleeve.

No risk of bpa or any other plastic chemical/toxic leaching
Toughed glass.
Sterilize by whacking it into some boiling water.

It takes any standard teat so you can buy your favorite and adjust.
Sabre drinks from the teat that comes with the bottle.

I used glass with Nuk teats for the first few months (glass much more hygienic), then switched to cheapie supermarket plastics once I stopped sterilising - a glass bottle in the face can really hurt once they can pick things up and toss them!

Another vote for Lifefactory glass baby bottles. Don't need replacing as often, can use any teat, easy to keep clean - just wonderful! They can convert into sippy cups and water bottles after you've finished them as baby bottles as well, very worth the initial expense.

Life factory glass bottles here. Would throw them in the dishwasher. Hand washed the teats and rinsed with boiling water.

Used pigeon Y cut teats as they are variable flow and bubs only gets milk if they suck.

Used for my 36wk bubs.

With My 1st baby I was lent an Avent microwave steriliser and I agree it was great. But when I had my 2nd I had given it back and couldnt get it back again. Off I trotted to BIg W but was shocked when I found it for $70 or something ridiculous. I bought the Big W Dymples brand one for $17. It has been fine! BUT I was only using bottles sparodically in the early days and only FF from 9 mths so max 4 bottles per day. It isnt that big so not sure if you would be happy with it for FF from day 1. The Avent bottles fit fine in the stand.

I always used Avent bottles with no leakage except when I got a new one and it this stupid 'colic free' extra rim. That is the only bottle that leaks a bit.

With dd, I started with pigeon bottles, as well as the dummies. The dummies were the only ones that were small enough from the start so she don't gag on them. The test are similar shape/size, so we used those & she loved them. When she was older, I just used pidgeon teats on Avent bottles till she was old enough to take Avent. The woolworths select brand also fit Avent bottles, but they are a faster flow, so not suitable till they're a bit older. Hth
