Hello lovely ladies,
I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place (please move the thread if not) but I am interested in hearing people's experiences, good and bad, with conceiving, or trying to conceive, with high FSH. First a bit about me. DH and I are both 36 and we have been TTC for number 2 since August 2011 (DD has just turned 2). However, I have realitively short cycles so we are up to cycle number 20 without even a hit of a BFP. I took us only 6 cycles to fall pregnant with DD and I had a cruisy pregnancy. I have never had a MC or chemical pregnancy (that I know of). We've had the full swag of testing, which has showed that DH swimmers aren't great and I have a blocked tube. Last week we also found out that my day 2 result for FSH was 15.9. As a result, we are starting straight on IVF, with the full knowledge that things might not work out given people in my situation usually don't respond well etc. I'm trying to keep positive but I'm sending myself around the bend my goggling 'high FSH' etc.! I would be really appreciative if some you wonderful women wtih high FSH and/or low ovarian reserve, could share your experiences with me. I have been on BCP for 10 days and have another appointment tomorrow with the FS to get things started with drugs etc. I'm nervous, excited and swining from wildly hopeful to very negative. Thanks so much, Canary |

I don't have a story as such, but just wanted to wish you good luck. Sooo... good luck!
DHEA is the new wonder drug for those with high FSH, Dr Google will tell you all about it, and your FS would probably be willing for you to give it a shot. |

Hi Canary
When trying for baby number 2 at 35 my fsh was 23 (i think) and my amh had dropped radcially down to 2.5. I got all the grim talking to. My IVF egg numbers were not that different however - still getting around 6-7 eggs. Baby number1 was getting about 10 eggs (but on a half the dose). However, I did not have a happy ending with IVF. I found my whole adrenal system was completely drained after 2 rounds. As I think FSH can be a reflection of already drained adrenals. Funnily enough I noticed when I was researching it that lots of women trying to number 2 had sudden high fsh with babies ranging form 12- 24 months. My suspicion after a while was that this was a time when women were potentially really drained and had fluctuating hormonal imbalances after breastfeeding ect. A good time to rebalance yourself completely. I decided not to take the medical route and did a serious juice detox with no sugar, gluten or processed foods at all for around 3 months. Whilst also doing chinese herbs. My fsh came down to 8 and I got pregnant from an IUI - no drugs. There were a few others that I knew of here that had similair success - Bellefin was one - I think her fsh was 25 for baby number 2 and she was in her early 30s and got pregnant with some alternative health changes. She also suggested the Julia Indochiva's book - she had a fsh of 43 and got pregnant. So it can happen but I do feel it needs some focus and lost of health changes and perserverance. I also know it can happen with ivf too - just was not my experience. http://www.amazon.com/Inconceivable-Womans...s/dp/0767908201 Good luck!! |
