He loved the Hunger Games, but is not a big reader normally, so I'm wondering if there's anything out there that's just as readable but also a bit thought provoking.

I've been playing around with WhatshouldIreadnext.com and it seems to be sticking to the exact same sort of story, which isn't what I'm looking for (unless it happens to be a really good book).

Any suggestions?

Danny Katz has a newish one called S.C.U.M., written for boys around that age who don't particularly like to read novels. It's pretty funny. My 16yo son liked it.

My son also really enjoyed a series called 'Alone' by James Phelan. There are three books in the series: Chasers, Survivor and Quarantine.

John Marsden's Tomorrow series? I thought this much better than The Hunger Games.

Hey, my 16 yr old brother and I love Matthew Reilly,

If your boy is a easily daunted by larger books try his novel Hovercar racer,
Or if he'd be ok with some grisly scenes Hell Island is also short but action packed original.gif

Thanks for the ideas ladies, I'm looking at them all.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Percy Jackson? I liked the first movie, but I haven't had a chance to look at the books like I wanted to.
