Hi, I am interested in switching my 16wo over to mcns soon, but was wondering about the poo side of things (sorry if this has been asked a million times before...)

She is exclusively BF, so her poos are quite runny still (and explosive!!). I know you're meant to flush the poo, but how do you flush when it is so runny? And do the liners do anything, or are they better for when poos beome more formed post the introduction of solids?

breast milk poo just washes straight off in the washing machine, just chuck them straight in and its all good. liners will be pretty much useless during this time, well, they were in our case. liners however are great when poo becomes more solid

Initially I rinsed in a bucket and then tipped the bucket of water down the toilet.

later I made liners of micro fleece and again just rinsed those in a buckt and tipped the water down the toilet.

For going out I did get some biodegradable flushable liners but I can't remember what website I got them from. Now I just use the micro fleece and flush the poo (he's 16mo) then roll the nappy and liner up in a nappy sack.

When babies are exclusively BF, you don't need to flush the poo - just chuck them in the washing machine and rinse first before washing. Once they start solids, the poo becomes a little more solid and you can scrub them, spray with a little squirt, use the flush on the toilet or use liners. I haven't had too much success with liners, although I have only used flushable ones - DD tends to get the poo everywhere BUT where the liner sits!

Poo before solids can just be washed out - no need to scrape off first (note I bf only, so not sure if formula changes things).

Once bubs is on solids, I would start using liners. I didn't for ages and it was awful having to soak the nappy shells (pooey nappy water )

Just make sure you get flushable liners, so easy, just hold nappy over loo, tip liner and all in!

Breastmilk only poo is water soluble, no need to do anything but chuck it all in the washing machine. Liners were good for when solids were introduced.

Do you have a little squirt? I used it to give the poo nappies a rinse before they went in the nappy pail so it didn't sit in poo for 2 days before a wash.

I rinsed most of the BF poo down the laundry sink before dry pailing them, then a pre wash rinse before the wash cycle.

Don't worry if they come out looking a bit stained at first, I thought I'd ruined mine but after some sun and a few more use/wash cycles they'd come up good as new.
