Thanks for your help. A little girl from my mothers group (2.5) has just been diagnosed with leukemia Her prognosis is good, however she has a long road ahead, the poor little thing.

She is now out of hospital, but will go back one day a week for regular chemo. She needs to limit her social contact due to low immunity during treatment. I would love to get her a little something to help pass the time, that she can do in bed. Puzzles, stickers books, music? Not sure.

Or will she be feeling so sick that she won't want anything at all? I'm not really clear on how she is actually feeling (just been told she sleeps alot and has no appetite) and I don't want to bombard her parents with questions, they have enough on their plate.

Thanks for any insight and suggestions on what might be helpful.

Assuming they have a CD player, maybe some nursery rhymes on CD, or some kids DVDs. They could have the music playing quietly in the background when she is lying in bed

Maybe a magnet book (like a stickerbook but a little more robust).

My daughter underwent chemo for Leukaemia between the ages of 2-4. Anything that could fit into the category or "play therapy" will be an awesome gift.

Ella loved painting, crafting, colouring in books, puzzles, toys. And for when she was feeling 'off' - simply laying down watching a DVD on her portable DVD player was the best thing.

My daughter was 3 when she was diagnosed (solid tumour), but anything that can be done in bed is handy.

I second what Kez and Red Cabbage have suggested. Anything for 'in-bed' play is good. We spent a HUUGE amount of time waiting in clinic. Ipods, Nintendo DS, Iphones, personal DVD players were great. Could the mothers group get together to get her a mini ipad or DS or something?

Meals and minding for the rest of the family would be a BIG help too..
