We have just started ttc #2 & were thrilled to get a bfp first month. But it appears I'll be misscarrying in the next few days. I'm not sure what classifies as a "chemical pregnancy" vs a "misscarriage" but I'm 4 weeks 3 days & it looks like the bleeding will start by 5 weeks.

So, my question is what now? Is it likely to happen again? Can we ttc once this is over or do we have to wait? Are you less fertile after a CP/MC?

Thanks

Hi Tillytake2
Unfortunately I don't have any advice - I miscarried last week at 9w.(I have a DS1 so was trying for #2) There was no gestational sac, so I have no idea when my little bub passed away, or if I was even pregnant. Just wanted to give you a bbighug.gif From my reading apparently you are more fertile after a miscarriage and if you fall pregnant you are more likely to have a succesful pregnancy. I think some docs suggest waiting until after your next period. I have an appt with my ob next week to see what he suggests and how soon I can start TTC again. Your ob or GP is probably the best person to ask these questions to. I am so sorry that you are going through this.
Regards

I went through something similar OP. So sorry for your loss.

I had what my GP called an early miscarriage at 5 weeks almost a month ago (approx 16 Dec).

I was advised I coud start trying straight away if I felt up to it. Dr did say that some women choose to wait due to not feeling ready emotionally, or because their cycles are all out of whack.

I decided to start TTC this next cycle. My bleeding lasted on and off for just over two weeks (not at all pleasant sad.gif ). I ovulated on 7th Jan - CD22. Prior to that my cycles were 28 days and ovulation was usually around CD12. So obviously my cycle has been thrown off a bit.

I say if you are ready, go for it. Be prepared for your cycle to be a bit messed up. I am unsure if you are more or less fertile though.

All the best x

Also I took comfort in a statistic I read somewhere that 75% of all women who experience miscarriage go on to have a healthy pregnancy original.gif

My dr also told me that one miscarriage does not make you more or less likely to experience another one next round.

Thinking of you original.gif
