I need some craft advice ...

Hi, I've just made some home decorated clip boards for my kid's teachers. I just purchased plain wooden clip boards and covered with some scrapbooking paper and used scrapbooking stickers to spell out their names. They look pretty cool and I would like to cover them somehow so that they don't get ruined easily. My first thought was contact but it will be really tricky to get it around the bull dog clip at the top and I'm really not very handy/crafty so pretty sure I'll ruin them if I attempt it. My other thought is some sort of spray on lacquer. Is there such a thing? Any other recommendations are welcome. Thanks heaps.

You will need a clear lacquer, this can been painted on and I think you can get it in a spray can, but not that sure. A varnish has a slight tint even the clear one has, so a lacquer is best. You can get this in either a craft, Scrapbooking or hardware store. It sounds lovely Lynn

you can get an acrylic varnish called white knight from bunnings in a spray can that is good. It takes about 20 mins to be dry to touch and you can add a new coat every 24 hours or 12 hours on a hot dry day. it comes in a gloss or a satin finish and is $12 a can. You could also use mod podge as a sealant but that will be slightly tacky on hot days. How ever you choose to seal it you need to do about 4 thin coats for it to be strong and thin coats will stop it from cracking as it cures for varnish.

Also agree with clear laquer and I think the spray one would work best. They sound great - would love to see a photo of them

Hi, I couldn't get the photo happening but the ones I made look very similar (different paper, stickers etc) to these. http://adiamondinthestuff.blogspot.com.au/...chers-gift.html I just used scrap booking paper and scrap booking stickers for the names. It was super easy and inexpensive. The teachers use clipboards in their daily activities so it will be well used. I hate the idea of giving something that gets put in the back of a cupboard to be re gifted or eventually thrown out.
