Do you swaddle your bub in summer? What do you use?

How old was your bub when you stopped swaddling?

Bubs 8 weeks now and we still swaddle him for naps and at night but not sure how we are going to keep up with that for summer. Evaporative cooling isn't that great and air con isn't working fantastic too we are in a rental house. We use the normal swaddling cloths mostly cotton but he is obviously getting too big and too strong. I am also concerned about SIDS, don't want to get his body overheated.

We won't mind leaving him un swaddled soon but wonder when the startle reflex goes. MHCN told us to keep swaddling till 12 weeks..

The it's only u til 6 wks. dD nearly 12 m of age.

Depends on the child.

Muslin wraps are light.

Woombie zipper wraps are super

or but a muslin sleeping bag - we got one from baby bunting

We still swaddle DS, he is 5.5 months. Mainly to get him to sleep, as even though the startle reflex has gone (about 3-4 months), if his arms are out he wants to grab things and put them in his mouth

We use lightweight muslin cloths, for both naps and bedtime - he has been escaping from these for months, but it helps to get him to sleep. During the day we keep him dressed coolly, like a legless onesie or singlet suit, and he stays wrapped for his nap. At night, we dress him a bit warmer, and undo the wrap once he's asleep, as he is rolling now. Means we can get him to sleep but he sleeps fine without it.

It's hard in the heat, but even when it was 40 degrees we still wrapped lightly. Used the fan to keep him cool, pointed away from him while sleeping. He likes the white noise, too.

We swaddled until 8 months, which was well into winter. We used a muslin, and once he got to about 12 weeks, we used a cotton cot sheet, as the muslins were too small.

I would suggest you get a pedestal fan for the baby's room. It makes a big difference to how warm you feel, even if the air temperature is still warm.
