Ok I am sure I have mastitis, feel terrible and have a red sore patch on one of my breasts. Just wondering should I persist in feeding and massaging today or go straight to the doctor? I don't want it to get worse on the weekend and be left not being able to go to the doctor.
I have had it once before but did not feel this bad. I didn't sleep much last night with my whole body aching, sweating and just feeling like I have a bad flu. |

Dr.
Once you have the sweats, chills, aches etc it's no longer just a blockage but the infection has started. I've had the beginnings of it twice now - both times my LC said I had 12 hours to massage, feed etc and feel slightly off but after 12 hours if I was feeling worse then to the Dr I had to go. |

After copping a doozy round of this with first child, head to dr is my advice. Especially given you said you had sweats etc overnight.

Ow.... whenever I see the word mastitis I shiver, and it's been 4 years since I had it! Straight to the Dr for anti-biotics, you'll start to feel better by this evening, but keep feeding and massaging. I used cold packs in between feeds too. Good luck, hope you feel better quickly

See a doctor definitely. Better to have the antibiotics on hand since it can get pretty nasty very quickly.
Hope it clears up for you soon. |

You poor thing OP, I hope the antibiotics kick in fast. I've had mastitis once, when DD was only two weeks old and it was worse than my drug-free labour
