I have a parcel to send to friends who live near New York- can anyone tell me roughly how long it will take to get there? Have I left it too late for them to receive it by Christmas?

It took over a month and a half for a parcel to come from my friends in NYC to QLD and this was in September. I imagine it being the Christmas period that deliveries to/from both countries will more than likely take longer.

Better late than never though, its the thought that counts! original.gif

My experience - and ATH and I were in a long-distance post-based relationship at one point - was anywhere from 10 days to over TWO MONTHS depending on the phase of the moon and how interesting your package looks and, of course, if it will impact your visa.

Since this is time sensitive but not hanging your total life in the balance, my guess is it will arrive Dec. 27. Unless you give up and tell them it will be late, in which case 2 weeks.

Give me my coffee and no one gets hurt!!!
How big is the parcel? Aus Post hqve an International Expeess satchel that is pre-paid. I've used for time-sensitive (read-forgot birthday!) parcels.

$80 will get you up to 20kg delivered via Express International. Delivery within 2-4 business days. http://auspost.com.au/apps/international-parcel.html

Most parcels I send to my mum in Canada take 7-10 days on average.

7-10 days has been my experience, and I send a lot of things to the U.S. Likely longer, though, during holiday peak period -- but with the advantage of Saturday delivery all year 'round in the U.S.

Interestingly, I've faced far more challenges receiving packages in Australia from the U.S (and other countries) in a timely fashion. A friend sent a package from Prague which languished in Aussie customs for 3+ months; my mom recently sent something from the U.S. that languished for 9 weeks!

I think it can be a hit 'n miss process on both ends sometimes unfortunately. Hopefully, you won't run into trouble.
