DD invited 14 or 15 friends to her birthday party this weekend. It's at Maccas & there is a minimum requirement of 10. I need to confirm with McDonalds tomorrow on how many are attending, problem is I have only received RSVP's from 7 of the 15 invited! 6 are coming plus DD makes 7; still 3 under the minimum.

As this is the first McDonalds party I have organised I have no idea how it all works if less than the minimum number of children can attend.

Can someone who has had a maccas party before tell me whether they would still allow the party to happen??

I am so scared that I will call them to confirm numbers tomorrow & be told that they have to cancel?

I guess I should also assume that some people will just show up without RSVPing too?

The minimum applies to the price party places charge, not how many people are coming. So 10 is the minimum no. of people you have to pay for, even if only 7 turn up. Of course, if you get 14 RSVPs, you will be charged more!

They will charge you for the minimum 10. I would RSVP for 10 and if any more show up don't stress - they will add them to your bill.

We did a Maccas party for our DD and it was the cheapest and easiest party we have ever done.

I know the food is not the greatest but in terms of stress levels and cost it was a hands down winner.

Do you have phone numbers or email addresses for the parents of the children who haven't RSVPed yet?
Failing contacting them directly and asking, I'd RSVP for 10, but ask what happens if one or two are able to come at the last minute. I'd hate to RSVP for 10, and then find that the other 8 are actually able to come but that McDonald's won't accommodate them.

No, unfortunatley I have no contact details for any of them.

I guess I will just confirm 10 for Maccas but let them know that I haven't heard from all guests invited so there may be more.

The total number invited is less than the maximum so I should be right there... I hope LOL

As others have suggested, I would RSVP for 10 and just absorb any losses if fewer than 10 show up.

Are these friends of your daughter's from school or daycare?

If so, can you print off a quick 1-pager to place in their book bags/cubby holes that says:

REMINDER: Sophie's party is on Saturday. We'd love to see [ ] there. Could you kindly RSVP at xxxx-xxx-xxx so we know whether to expect her. Thanks so much, Judy (Sophie's Mum)

It's totally rude not to RSVP, but occasionally, there is a parent who never received the invitation (buried in book page, etc.).

I'm really glad that our preschool and primary schools have class lists -- makes it much easier to track down parents!

Anything generic like this is equally unlikely to elicit a response. I would go for a call/text or at least a hand written note directly addressing specific individuals: "Hey Debbie, did you receive the invitation for Sophie's party? I need to confirm the numbers tomorrow and was wondering if you could make it."

So many people don't bother with RSVP these days. It's a rude yet expected problem.
