I need help making a decision, or at least being able to rationalise a choice. Please tell me what you'd do in this situation.

I work for myself, freelance, by the hour. However, I wasn't planning to work at all in January because it's school holidays and my youngest will be starting FYOS at the end of Jan and I really wanted to just hang out with the kids and have fun over summer without palming them off to babysitters.

But...it looks like I may well have a big job mid-Jan to the start of Feb. I could earn 3-4 months income in 4 weeks.

It's a great cash injection, but I feel torn and guilty that I won't be able to spend anywhere near as much time with the kids before the little one is off to school.

So WWYD? Help me decide!

I'd turn it down if I could afford to and had other prospects on the horizon. If cash is tight, do it (and try to organise your day so that you're working early morning/night and have a few hours in the middle of the day for family time).

I'd work! Before you know it, it will be Easter holidays. You can make up for it then.

I'd work. And I agree with the Easter and April holidays if possible because I think they are really long next year.

Ok that's making me feel a bit better, thanks! I can bribe them by saying 'if mummy works now we can have an ace holiday somewhere later in the year'.

Be with the kids and after they sleep work on your project.

Take the job and volunteer at school a few times in term 1 when you're free.

Don't feel guilty, just enjoy the time prior to mid-Jan with the kids.
