I just wanted to put this out there as hopefully some of you can reassure me it is completely normal...
I've never taken a baby to a chiropractor before, but had my 9 week old there yesterday as he has developed plagio on the left hand back side of his head and seemed to have a very stiff neck when turning to the opposite side. Anyway the treatment seemed to go really well and he was definitely loosened up afterwards. The chiro said that he might have a big sleep and a big poo afterwards and that this is normal. When I brought him home he had his big sleep, fine with that, then a good feed. After sitting upright with me for about 10 minutes I handed him to DH for a cuddle at which point the poor little tike proceeded to bring up what looked like the entire feed he had just had (all over a very alarmed DH, but that's another post for another day So what I am wondering is: for anyone who has had their babies treated by a chiro before, did you experience this? Were you told you might? Do you think this is 'normal'? TIA! |

Had you taken your baby to a doctor beforehand to discuss the stiffness and going to a chiropractor?

I know people swear by chiro, but inwouldn't be taking a nine week old anywhere near someone who twisted their neck around?
As PP said, have you seen a doctor or paediatric physio? Have you ruled out torticollis, if bub seems stiff? |

I took my two to a chiro before 9 weeks and they were ok. I didn't have any probs after. Just see how he goes today, otherwise maybe take him to the dr.

Hi,
I've never taken my baby, but my sister did and he was probably the same age or slightly older than your DS. He was fine. In saying that though, my hubby went to get his adjustment at a new place and I also went and got a massage, I felt crook for a few days after, and hubby was vomiting that afternoon, perhaps all the toxins he released in the baby's neck made him sick? We never went back to the new clinic. |

Was it a once off vomit or multiple? If once off I wouldn't be too concerned, but if it continues I would be getting bub off to the GP.
I'm also not a fan of chiros, especially for babies Hope your little ones OK. |

I've never encountered vomiting after a chiro. I took DD2 when she was about 4 months old. But DD3 was 5 weeks old. It helped both of them out of sight. And i had tried everything!!! I wouldn't be concerned with a one off vomit but if it continued id call the chiro.

Does your baby still have a stiff neck? I wouldn't be so worried about the vomiting but would be seeing a GP if the stiff neck or any other symptoms persist.

A chiro for a 9 week old?
Did you take your baby to a doctor first? Is he feverish or displaying any other symptoms? If you are worried, please take him to his doctor. eta: It is dangerous to seek 'assurance' from random posters on the internet about a 9 week old baby's health. We can't see him and have no way to know if everything is alright. If you need reassurance please take him to a medical professional.
