I'm looking to buy a breast pump so that when I return to work I am able to express for the feeds I will miss.
I have looked online and they range from approx $320 to $240 for the Medela swing. I looked specifically at the Medela because when I got home from hospital I had to hire a breastpump and have a bottle the cord etc as a start. For time saving sake I think a double pump would be better. Can anyone recommend a double breast pump? If so, how much would be an acceptable amount to spend and is there a possibility of getting the machine second hand? Appreciate any advice. |

I bought an Ameda double pump (? Purely yours).
It was fabulous. They were also way, way cheaper then the Medela's. And from the research I did at the time, it was one of the biggest brands in the USA, but for some reason just not as well known over here. Either way, it worked well for me. I will admit it is not as pretty looking as the medellas, but for 1/2 the price I didn't care .... |

Have you looked at the Medela Pump in style or Freestyle , they are double pumps are very good.
I used an Ameda Purely yours, it was a great double pump and as pp said it is cheaper. I found some amazing prices for this pump on getprice, one was $249! |

I used the Medela freestyle and found it worked really well - although pricey! If you are going to regularly express, I would recommend using an expressing bra which means you are basically handsfree and I also thought it seemed to make the whole process more efficient for collecting the milk. It was also gentler on my nipples than if I was trying to hold the shields in place.
Try nursingangel.com.au - really speedy delivery as well. |
