Hi everyone
Just done two home pregnancy tests as my period is two days late however lots of spotting. I was waiting for my period to start another full cycle of IVF my last FET failed with a chemical pregnancy, and my first transfer was negative. The result was positive I'm in shock. Does anyone have any experience in this? My last bleed was after the chemical pregnancy four weeks ago surely the hormones couldn't still be in my system giving me a false positive? C31

I had a natural pregnancy however it was finally after a successful IVF. There are lots of stories of it happening. Was there a reason for our fertility issues or were you, like me, in the 'mystery' category? Either way they do say it can happen at times like this as, seeing as ou had resigned yourself to another cycle, you weren't stressing about it? Hope it works out for you.

Thanks yes we have fertility issues however was told although its not out of the question we may as well start IVF straight away. Off to sleep to hopefully wake up and receive another positive! Thanks for the well wishes I have everything crossed in hope! |

It certainly can and does happen!
*** pregnancy and loss mentioned*** I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant with a very healthy baby that is nothing short of a miracle. We spent 3 years TTC - Clomid, 3 IVF stim cycles and 2 FET's. I got pregnant 3 times during that period but miscarried 2 and lost our third due to a severe neural tube defect. Like you, we were waiting for my period so we could start our next stim cycle, but it never arrived! It was a massive shock to us (and still is!) because I have PCOS and pretty much never ovulate naturally - except for this once apparently! I would highly doubt any HCG in your system is from you last cycle. Do an other HPT this morning, fingers crossed you get another BFP then give your doctor a call! Just a warning though - when I called my FS, her assistant basically wanted nothing to do with me because the pregnancy was natural and "not assisted" so I was told to just see my GP (like any other normal pregnancy - HAH!). Thankfully I have a wonderful GP and an even more awesome Obstetrician who looked after me really well especially during the very scary (for me!) first trimester. Congratulations, and good luck. I do hope you are one of the few that have that miracle BFP. xox ETA - I've had so many people comment that I must have got pregnant because we went on a holiday and relaxed! Personally I think this is a load of BS. If *all I had to do was relax* then we wouldn't have spend over 15k on IVF. If only it were that simple... for me, I think it was a combination of a few health issues being sorted, and a whole lotta luck. This post has been edited by BJBubbles: 04/12/2012, 05:00 AM |

Hahaha I thought that too - I can just see everyone saying 'see you relaxed and look what happens' I also think that is BS and its come down to a bit of luck for us.
I had the exact situation you described the clinic wouldn't see my I had to go to my specialist for a referral for a test then get one. Good news though it was positive however hcg is low - 45. I have to re test Thursday. Still can't believe it! |

I found it weird once I got pregnant through IVF. I had spent so much time with them that I kind of thought that they would see me through t the end. Instead it just stopped abruptly. With my second (natural) it was also strange not having an ultrasound until 12 weeks, considering I felt like most of the medical fraternity had seen my innards from day dot with #1....
Good luck to you both (more immediately you Charlotte31 for Thursday). One day at a time and you will both get closer and closer to your dreams. All the best |

Loss mentioned:
It's possible it's a new pregnancy but I've had two chem pregnancies this year where the HCG stopped dropping at about 60 and took three bleeds to get out of my system. Tiny bit of remaining tissue was enough to keep producing low amount of hormone. I thought I was pg naturally but FS told me there were two possibilities. Second HCG didn't rise then I had 4 weeks of blood tests to track it back to zero. Next FET cycle I got a positive but it went bad at 5 weeks again. Tracked levels back to zero and they were really slow to drop again. I was still nauseous 4 weeks after I was told to go off meds and further testing showed retained tissue. Is your HCG higher than your last level from the chem pregnancy (which would indicate new pregnancy)? Fingers crossed for you. |

How did your repeat test go today? Hoping you got some good news and reassurance
Low is OK, as long as it rises nicely! What dpo do you think you are? We only really figured my dpo out based on the BT results and a bit of a guess - I wasn't exactly tracking, as I don't normally ovulate, but I get "ovulation pain" most months... usually 12 - 14 days before my "period" so we just went with that. FWIW, my HCG went: 12dpo - 56 14dpo - 115 17dpo - 450 xox |
