Hi Ladies,
For those of you who don't know me my story goes a little like this.
We have done 2 IVF ICSI HA cycles. Both with a BFP - however....
Cycle 1 - heartbeat detected at nearly 7 weeks and all seemed fine until I started to spot and eventually MC at nearly 12 weeks. Scan before MC showed around 7 weeks. D&C to 'help'. Results from this all fine - nothing shown up.
Cycle 2 - heartbeat detected at 7 weeks. On eostregen patches, progesterone x 2 daily and baby asprin. Saw OB at start of week 8 - Monday OB says nothing to worry about. Good strong heartbeat levels all fine. Wed early morning had horrible pain but just thought it was gas? As heading to New Zealand for work I pushed for another US the day before 9 weeks. No heartbeat detected. Sac measuring 7.5 weeks. D&C done Sat morning before flying out to New Zealand. Yet to get test results back.
So we have an appointment with FS next Monday.
I am also a poor responder and have only a low egg collection and growth rate. Both ET have been day 3 as there has only been 2 eggs with the second one fragmenting by day 3.
I guess a lot of people say that after 3 MC that they start testing but I don't know if I can go through this now repeated pattern again. I would like to push for further testing as this cycle has cost us in excess of $16k (without rebates) due to travel, DH time away from contracting and paying someone to look after farm. Each cycle is quite stressful in addition to just the IVF.
Can anyone provide me with some direction or questions that may be helpful to discuss with specialist?

I'm so sorry that your post has been read nearly 100 times, but noone has responded. I am afraid that I can't offer any advice regarding your experience. If you post this on the Assisted Conception boards maybe the ladies there may be able to offer some advice?

Thanks so much names. I too was wondering why it has been viewed so many times but yet no-one could offer anything. I will try to repost this over there as I am quite active there. I thought however that here may have gotten something due to people in here having suffered some of the same things as me - Guess not though

hillplain - I am so sorry this has happened to you. I completely understand the frustration of having to go through IVF, get a BFP and then it all gets taken away from you.

My first two ICSI cycles resulted in BFP with one MMC at 11 wks (after seeing a heartbeat at 7wks) and the other was a spontaneous miscarriage at almost 6wks.

My OB offered recurrent miscarriage testing at this point - given that we had gone through IVF so it was not like we could easily "just keep trying". If I were you I would certainly ask for this. I didnt have to ask, was just offered.

The testing came up with nothing (which I felt upset about as I wanted a reason) but I was assured by my FS that this was a good thing. I cant remember all the tests (clotting factor, factor V leideon, Trisomy) but BOTH me and DH were tested.

Our next fresh cycle we did HA-ICSI. BFN. We then used our 1 and only embryo from the HA-ICSI batch and got BFP. I took low dose aspirin, progesterone & oestrogen until 12 weeks. Other than that I did all the same things I had done for previous cycles. I think for us, the HA-ICSI made the difference as I think in previous batch we had a lot of good-looking but dodgy sperm being ICSI'd (but you have done this for both your cycles - so not sure how this helps you).

I did buy some books on recurrent miscarriage because if the HA-ICSI didnt work, or I ended up with another miscarriage, I wanted to have some serious questions up my sleeve for FS in terms of what the plan of action would be. However so far I haven't needed it.

I wish I could give you some practical advice. I guess at this stage I think, if it is not offered you should ask for the blood test for recurrent miscarriage - at least to rule out some of the obvious things, given how much is invested (financially, physically and emotionally) in each cycle/BFP.

Cordyline - Thanks so much for your story. I remember you from the first preg and am so glad that things are going so well for you. Getting close for you now!
I have now got the results back too and from what I can understand there are no abnormalities. Good in one way I guess.

I was going to push for a full work up for both of us too to see what comes of it. Will wait till Monday to see what FS recomends.

I will try and keep this updated to see how things progress. As this topic has now had 300 views in 2 sections I guess that there are a lot of people interested but with little experience?
