I feel like the worst mother right now.

Looks like DS wont be getting any presents from me for Christmas this year.
I didn't see him on his birthday cause i was in hospital and now this....
I've had the worst possible past 2 months and its just getting worse. I found out i have to head to Brisbane (6 or 7 hour drive away, though, i dont drive so it will be flying for me) to have a follow up appointment with a neurologist because Rockhampton waiting list is over a year long.
Im wanting to cancel the lay-by because i just cant afford it, I still have $230 remaining on there and i just cant pay it. Im out of work at the moment which makes life a lot harder, Plus my "father" who im living with has just upped my rent out of the blue and has decided to ditch his daughters to move 5 hours away with his stuck up girlfriend. (whole other vent there)
Do you know if i cancel it i would get the money ive already paid back?
its roughly $160..

Edit: I have terrible spelling when im sick.

Oh dear, sounds like life is tough for you right now. I just checked Target online, and you can cancel the order if it hasn't been dispatched and get your money back.

Given your son's age, I'm sure he will be very happy with small items - things you could pick up from the local Op shop, $2 shop etc. Kids don't need expensive gifts to enjoy christmas.

He has plenty of gifts like that from My Sister, But im just disappointed in myself.
After seeing how happy a trampoline made him, it was something i was determined to get sad.gif

Bring on 2013, I hope its a lot happier for DS and I.

If you cancel it you will get back all but $2, so you should get back $158 and if you don't plan to use that money for your plane ticket I've seen trampolines at ok prices elsewhere. If you're interested I can help you find one that's under $158?

I'm so sorry that you have had such a crappy run of bad luck. Please don't feel like a lousy mother. You are investing in your health and being financially responsible. Those are very positive things.

I hope that 2013 brings you greater security, happiness, and health.

When your son grows up and thinks back to xmas 2012, he's not going to remember the gift or feel any disappointment that you had to cancel it. He's going to remember a mum who loves him and wanted to make his xmas very special despite going through a great deal of personal hardship.

I'm not sure about the cancellation policy at Target but if for some reason you can't get the money back, how about telling them what you told us? If I were a manager there I'd much rather give a struggling mum her money back than make a few bucks of profit.

Sounds like you are having a tough time. Children are pretty resilient. I hope 2013 brings you both a much happier and healthier year.

Here are a couple of options if you didnt require the money for something else.

Here is a trampoline (9ft) for $140 - http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/trampolines/...term=trampoline

Another (4.5ft) $89 - http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/trampolines/...term=trampoline

I bought a trampoline (no net) at Target for $50. 2 years later it is still going strong. Perhaps you should check whether they still have them (oval trampolines).
