I am toying with opening a B and B in inner Melbourne. Would this be an act of madness? Have you done it? What surprised you about runnibg a B and B or things you felt completely unprepared for?
I plan to do a course (although have little idea which of the many courses is appropriate) to get my head around the whole thing but would love any experience from those who have lived it. |

There's a few hints in this article
Could be a good option, but there is certainly plenty to think through first. |

I have a few guesthouses and I learned early I hate preparing food for guests so my place is now Make Your Own Breakfast. Also - I got sick of sharing my space so mostly now live alone in my own house and have dedicated guesthouses down the road....it's hard living where you work etc.

So far the two hiccups I think are needing an ensuite for each bedroom and how to be available for guests, especially on arrival, without always having my life on hold.
And I doubt I would be physically up to doing all the work and having help might remove all the profit. Ummm Perhaps a fully furnished house wmight work better. |
