That I answered in my dressing gown! ohmy.gif

It was a couple from down the road out for their morning walk, asking 'Is this your dog?' We had accidentally left our garage door open overnight, so they thought the dog might be ours.

She is a young heeler x kelpie looking thing, and had 'attached' herself to the walking couple in a 'thank goodness - you are one of the humans - you'll know what to do!' type way.

I explained that no, it wasn't my dog, I wasn't familiar with her either. But during this short conversation the dog had come and sat on my feet, and gazed up at me with such gorgeous doggie adoration that I was smitten. The dog is wearing a collar with a registration tag, and is clearly someone's pet.

We had a carols by candlelight type thing near us last night which ended in fireworks, and the lady wondered if the dog might have escaped due to being frightened.

So I told her don't worry, I'll take her in and ring the council and return her to her owners.

So in came Rosie. She is GORGEOUS!

Very excitable, which I think is pretty typical of that mix, playful, but actually beautiful manners, she sits when she wants something!

I put in the backyard, put out a water bowl, fed her some ham and my daughter's left over weetbix. She is just hanging out there like she's lived there forever. I'll take her up to the vets when they open and see if she's chipped.

Lovely post OP, made me feel warm and fuzzy like !!!
Good for you taking time out to take her in and find her owners and save her a stay at the pound. No doubt she will be reunited with her owners and I hope they are glad she found herself in a kind home like yours.

She looks my cattle dog cross Bette.

I would call the local pound or RSPCA. They will put the dog on missing dog list that's available online.

I found a few strays over the years (Bette is like the pied piper of strays) and each time I ring the RSPCA. The owners have come to collect them within hours.
