I ahve never done Gold class at the movies. We don't live near a movie theatre but thought it would be a nice thing to buy for my hubby - something we can do together.
Looking at Tickets it is about $40 per ticket. Not including anything else. Wow. Is it worth it? Otherwise I might just buy a couple of 'normal' movie tickets and put the extra into a nicer hotel voucher on wotif. Suggestions and opinions appreciated |

I like to go Gold Class sometimes. Particularly if it's a new release that will be incredibly popular, because it limits the number of people in the cinema and there's no kids or babies. Plus you can get a nice meal delivered and a glass of wine. It's $18 for a normal ticket here and $30 for Gold Class, so the extra is worth it. Might be different if I were going every week, but since I only get to the movies a few times a year then I don't mind paying the bit extra for the really comfy recliner seat and bar service!

I think it's worth it, for a long popular movie. Go across a mealtime so you aren't doubling up on lunch/ dinner costs

DH and love gold class. That's partly because DH is exceptionally tall and so is squished in the regular seats. Some chains include popcorn in the ticket price. Some don't. When I saw the latest batsman there were kids in the gold class section. I do love having a glass of wine and being super comfy. I book the tickets before we get there to choose our seats. Even if someone is in the seat next to you the seats are so huge they are seem far away. Having Said how much I love gold class I think it's a close call between upgrading hotel and gold class. Depends how much time you think you would spend in the room

I usually wait til Gold Glass is on special for about $20 each and well worth it. As others have said combine it with lunch or dinner time.
To the PP there can be children and babies in there. I have taken my kids before. As far as I know they are allowed! Oh and you only get free popcorn and drink at some cinemas so check first. This post has been edited by Greatmum: 01/12/2012, 01:26 PM |

I love it. I also only go once in a blue moon and go all out on food. Pre kids I used to go for every new Bond film and Star Wars. I loved that there was no noise, that you can recline, eat a meal and have a glass of bubbly.

Hmmm I think I am sold on the Gold class. WE would probably stay at a hotel anyway it is just if I have a voucher it will be a prioity and we will do it. I might just do both
This is for Christmas gift. No particular movie in mind just next time we are down we will make it a priority to do it. WE need to make time to do couple things. |

I love it. We have been twice for special occasions. I think it is totally worth it. A very enjoyable way to watch a movie at the cinema.
