I can't think of any reason why I would not use peppermint foot cream when pregnant.

QUOTE (Jemstar @ 30/11/2012, 12:44 PM) 15119516[/url]'] I can't think of any reason why I would not use peppermint foot cream when pregnant. Cos ir's hard to reach your feet? In which case, it's the DP's job to rub it in! |

I was told no peppermint ... and i know in reputable salons they will not use Peppermint foot creams etc during pedicures as although not concrete evidence it is thought to be toxic to some level in pregnancy.

Really? My reading has suggested no such thing. I would be more worried about breathing everyday pollution than a bit of peppermint foot cream.

Denise Tiran is a midwife and well known authority on complementary medicine in pregnancy, it's worth looking at what she says.
This is quite a good basic article from her: http://www.babycenter.com.au/pregnancy/isi...tialoilsexpert/ If in doubt always ask an aromatherapist |

I used peppermint foot cream prior to being pregnant and have continued to do so.
Essential oils I would avoid - but in foot cream, the actual amount is a very small %. My acupuncturist likened it to drinking peppermint tea - as long as I wasn't drinking a gallon a day, I'm fine. |

OP I think even if you had your feet soaking in Peppermint foot cream for hours on end there would be no harm caused to your baby.
Peppermint is a safe essential oil. |

The cream is perfectly safe to use!!! You only have to avoid essential oils!
And that is because oils will soak down into the dermis which is closer to blood vessels therefore getting into your blood stream and then to the baby. Creams only just manage to soak into the epidermis ( top layer of skin ) So get the cream out and get your man to rub those feet! Lol |

Peppermint is a safe oil to use during pregnancy, and it can even be used (peppermint tea) to help with nausea during pregnancy. Essential oils should only be used sparingly, but in creams, there would only be a very small amount used anyway.
Peppermint is used in some treatments we provide to pregnant guests at the spa I work for. There is no evidence to suggest that peppermint should be avoided during pregnancy. This post has been edited by Propaganda: 02/12/2012, 01:08 PM |
