Has anyone recently taken out travel insurance that covers heart conditions?
We want to go to Canada in Jan/Feb for 3 weeks. Covermore has said no. Vero needs a form completed by a doctor, then they assess that info to decide if they'll offer cover. Any other companies we can try? Thanks. |

MIL used sure save.net and they were the only ones would cover her being 79, having a heart condition and is on Warfrin.
Her premium was higher and her excess would be higher, but they did cover her ( we did not need to claim). She just did interview over the telephone for the cover. http://www.suresave.net.au/ |

I was going to recommend Covermore(who covered my mum for her heart condition)but edited post because I just read your post properly and they have already said no.
Hopefully you will find someone who will insure you! This post has been edited by vonmax: 29/11/2012, 09:52 PM |

We just tried to get cover for our USA holiday for my DH heart condition which is basically 3 stents and now on medication..the only one that was likely to consider it was suresave and belive me I tried every single travel insurance company i could find...because this was only a recent condition we didnt have any luck and he had to cancel coming with us...but at least suresave did say that further down the track they would consider it

I use to sell Covermore travel insurance and I don't recall ever having a client knocked back for their heart condition. I just had a quick look and they have changed underwriters though so I can't speak for the new underwriters 'Great Lakes Reinsurance(UK) PLC.' They use to be underwritten by Vero though so fill out all your pre-existing forms and give them a try.
Still, this is a common discussion on a group I am in and Covermore are recommended by most for insuring even the really serious heart conditions that require ongoing corrective surgery. (With an additional premium of course.) |

covermore definitely didnt cover stents
i used to sell them all the time as well and thought as such a big company they definitely would...but no they have changed their policy guess it depends on what heart condition you need covering as to who will work for you |

Try Australia post insurance, we couldn't get it to cover my son (not a heart condition but complex med needs) but know of someone - who may post as well - that got it for her son when no other company would. its an easy over the phone questionnaire and it is decided from that.
