Sad but had to be done.

An Airedale is supposed to look like this:

... and she did...

... but due to, in the last few weeks contracting really bad hot spots/dermatitis caused by the heat, humidity and grass (possibly ants in the grass as well - not a single flea on her so that's not the cause) which wasn't responding to treatment even though we caught it early, she now looks like this - we had to take her coat all the way back because it was starting to spread:

and this:

Poor little girl but she does seem a whole lot happier this afternoon without the weight of the coat - no scratching and biting in the last few hours.

If you popped a santa hat on her she could be mistaken for an elf but she would never at this point be mistaken for an Airedale. sad.gif

Still not out of the woods yet - she has daily doses of Dermega and two/three bathings a week with Melaseb to bring her skin back into condition.

I hate this weather at the moment and I think it's going to be a long hot humid summer which won't help.

I think she looks better shorn ph34r.gif

My cat gets dermatitis and I have to battle the urge to shave her. The only thing stopping me is the knowledge that she has very sharp claws ohmy.gif
