Hi all,

My husband and I are faced with the awkward decision of choosing to follow our FS who is moving to another fertility clinic OR staying with our current clinic and changing FS's.

We like our FS and prefer not to change but we have 4 embryos and some sperm with our existing clinic and I feel a little anxious about moving them. Has anyone had any defrosting issues transporting goods before?

Another factor is that the new clinic has much better success rates than the current one BUT is much more expensive. Another $1800 per stim cycle by 40% per embryo transfer success vs. 30%.

What do you guys think?

I would stay with the clinic and choose a new FS.

I'd stay at the same clinic. Personally I changed FS 3 times within the one clinic for various reasons (one went on long term leave, another had no free appts for 2 months etc). In the end the EPU/ET is done by a random FS on the day isn't it?

I wonder why the other clinic has better results - surely they all use the same methods and procedures now?

I would change FS. When I was doing it I got whichever FS was rostered on that day and ended up with other FS rather than mine most of the time.

On the other hand if you do decide to change clinic's it shouldn't be an issue. Our clinic actually moved while we had frozen embroys there and we had no choice but to move them and had no problems at all.

i am in the other camp and would follow a trusted and liked FS to a new clinic - the deal would be sealed to me if the success rates are better! If i felt that that doctor had something invested in me and I had a good relationship then i would definitely stay with him or her. However, i realise its totally personal. I should also say that i have chosen an FS before because of their stellar rep and she had a utter terrible bedside manner. I would always chose a doctor for their credentials - if they are a caring human being on top of that its a bonus.

My FS has moved embryos from London as I had the same concern. He recently said that he prefers to move the person but the embyos can be moved it just involves some logistics and some stress,which he thinks we can all do without.

We've decided to " use up" the frosties we have at the current clinic and see how we go. We figure FETs with a new FS are not such a big deal. However if we have to stim again (hopefully not, we have 4 frosties!) we might follow our old FS to this new clinic with higher success rates. The new clinic also guarantees you always see your own FS except for extraordinary circumstances and you see the same nurse each time, too. Sounds like this is where the extra cash goes...
