Our initial appointments (counselling, info sessions, etc) are booked in for after my period starts.

(On my request), our FS gave me a script for the pill so I can start beforehand so I'm ready to go.

However, I didn't ask him what cycle day(s) I can start it on. Does anyone know which day/s are acceptable?

I'm with MIVF in case relevant. OCP Antagonist protocol w/ Puregon.

Im doing an antagonist cycle with OCP right now (day 4 actually). I started the OCP the same way you would normally. I started active pills on day 1 of my cycle. I took the OCP because we had to work EPU with DH's roster. You could ring the clinic and check with them. Thats what they are there for! Good luck!

The active pill usually starts on day 5 (or you can start the sugar pills on day 1 if you have been given a pill with sugar pills). Here is a general overview of a MIVF cycle and step 7 is when you would usually start the pill http://mivf.com.au/fertility-treatment/ivf-treatment Your cycle won't be a down reg but the pill part of the cycle should be the same although feel free to ring the nurses at any time, they get calls like this regularly.

That was my confusion, I noticed on MIVF's website that you start CD5 for ocp down reg, but other places seem to start CD1 for ocp antagonist. I wasn't sure if the difference was the protocol or the place.

I guess it's probably the place... I read that CD5 is the latest you should start the pill (for birth control anyway), so I wonder if that's just for MIVF's planning purposes to get a bit extra warning?

I _should_ call, but I already sent them an email a couple days ago (no response yet) and don't want to harass. (Okay, and I have a bit of a phone phobia!).

I would want to start CD1 if it mean things get underway quicker (absoluely desperate to get going), but if it will mean waiting the same amount of time regardless then I may as well start CD5 given I hate the pill...

So annoyed my police check is taking forever, we planned to move our appointments earlier...

the quickest option would be to skip the pill entirely but I am guessing you have decided to take it for a reason?

starting at day 1 or day 5 probably won't make a difference to when you can start a cycle. The pill won't actually have much at all to do with your cycle and is usually used either to bring on a withdrawal bleed for those that don't have regular periods, to dampen down hormones a little (for a down reg cycle) but mostly it is used to help time things so clinics that only offer egg collection on specific days will use the pill to get everyone cycling at the same time. Feel free to call the nurses though (or even your Dr's assistant and ask them to check and call you back), I know it feels weird to ring with lots of small questions but it is always better to check than to not be sure.

Definitely not my decision to take it, the FS just _told_ me we'd do OCP Antagonist. I thought it was strange at the time, I have regular cycles and when he decided on this all he knew was that my cycles are 27 days. But after reading up, I think it can stop the eggs from maturing at different times? I'm not sure if that's relevant in my case. Maybe it's just for scheduling...

Still no response to my email, so maybe I should call... But I probably won't.
