Hi All

My DH and I will start TTC in mid Jan (as that is 3 months since the reversal). We are both really excited about it. It will be my #1 and his #3 (plus 1 DSD to his earlier relationship).

Am on the vitamins + folate and all my jabs have been done so we will be right to go when the time comes. Any hints or tips leading up to TTC would be much appreciated (especially if anyone knows how to stop the time dragging or how to make such an exciting secret easier to keep! biggrin.gif ).

Welcome Zanbam: I have no idea on how to stop time dragging! I’m so excited that I just want it to be the new year already. I’ve started charting my temps so that I know when my body is back to normal after the being on the pill and to be honest it is probably making me more impatient. In terms of keeping it a secret I have told a couple of people but I’m trying really hard not to. I’ve had a few people ask when we will have kids and I usually say we are thinking about the end of next year so that you can still carry on a conversation about kids, but give you 12 months before people start pestering you about it.

What jabs did you get done? I went to get checked out and the doctor I saw seemed really blasé and didn’t give me any info. I asked what I should get checked and he didn’t suggest anything. I requested Whooping Cough which I did get done, but I’m not sure what else I should have been checked for.

Ok - update time!

Welcome Zanbam original.gif don't really have tips on making time go faster Lol but what I will say is take the time to do lots of lovely couple things with DH in the next month or so. Go see lots of films, go out for dinner & attend as many social gatherings as possible as from what I hear you'll miss those days once bub arrives original.gif plus it can only help male the waiting time fun, and should be easy to keep busy over the silly season!

Julzely, I don't think you've found YOUR GP yet sad.gif keep shopping around - look for "family" general practice or especially one where a Dr has paediatric care advertised as it would be nice to continue seeing the Sam Dr once bub is here for continuity of care. You can also google GP's that do "shared care" for pregnancy and if nothing comes up either call Medicare or your private health provider (even if u don't have OHI just call one) and ask if they have a list of shared care GP providers in your area. They can then see you for prenatal care and even through pg if you decide to go that way. I wouldn't make appointments until u know someone is right for u - try & get the receptionist talking and ask lots of Q's about whether any of their Dr's specialist in women & children. A friend asked her regular GP the same thing abt preparing for pg and her Dr took her blood pressure & that was it!

They should talk you through the vitamins and what u need - for instance in required vitamin D as well as B12 which we found out from bloods. I was also screened for up to date chicken pox/rubella vax etc. and told a list of good foods to eat, get plenty of rest, regular exercise, sleep lessen alcohol etc. etc.oh & they made sure Pap smear was up to date & all of that.

Nothing too exciting to report here - it's so darn hot! I'm enjoying a cheeky glass of cold wine and laying under our fan. Not sure what where going to do tonight original.gif

Sill off BCP and doing ok, feeling much better this time and really feeling ready for a baby now! Think new year is Definitely the time!

We're off to meet our mates who have a gorgeous 7mnth old baby girl tonight - thinking of possibly going with them in a holiday next month too - DH seems quite enamoured by her too, think I'm finally cracking him!

Thanks for the advice MrsShine, I'm trying to plan a big night out for NYE as the stepkids will be with their mum this year and (hopefully) it will be the last one to ourselves!

Thanks for the welcome Julzely, by shots I meant checking my rubella immunisation was adequate, otherwise you need to be reimmunised and then wait 3 months (as my friend found out to her frustration). I have only recently started seeing my Dr and she is so thorough and supportive that I am going to talk to her about doing a shared care arrangement for when I do get pregnant rather then use an Ob the whole time. I absolutely think MrsShine's advice was good re getting referrals from friends and other mums, you have to feel comfortable with this person.

DH and I went away for the weekend with extended family and after a few beers he was dropping hints left right and centre, such as "if you got pregnant" when previously us having a baby was definitely not on the cards - glad to see he is as bad as me! A couple of my close friends know about the reversal as I had to have someone else to talk to about it or it would be all me and DH talked about!

Hi all, sorry for the delay in posting sadly it is that time of the year where everything is just busy busy busy!

Zanbam, welcome to our group, sadly none of us have worked out the time dragging thing. My best friend is due to give birth in the next 6 weeks so that is certainly not making this any easier, just take pleasure in know you are certainly not alone and your DH seems very much on board if your weekend is anything to go by!

Julzely, it sucks that you haven't found your doc yet, but I agree with everyone else, you have to be comfortable so keep hunting! I have my fingers crossed for you original.gif

Mrs Shine, in response to the last thread, it is my job that is moving me, I am a teacher so one of the "perks" is being told where to live, thankfully my new posting is much close to friends and family, and more importantly to the city so DH may be able to pick up some work. He has an interview scheduled for Thursday so cross fingers for us original.gif.

Other then that there is isn't much to report here, we move on Friday next so I am likely to be without internet for a week (hopefully they will hook it up before Xmas otherwise it looks dire until the new year) and then it is Christmas so I presume things will become even more sporadic in our little forum. At the moment our house looks like a warzone with stuff everywhere and half packed boxes and suitcases, but I am sure it will all come together next week (the positive to a forced move, someone else has to pack most of our stuff for us original.gif ) , and I am off on year 9 camp tomorrow for 3 days in the delightful FNQ heat, I'm sure it will be delightful! On a side note I am actually pretty sure it will be the most awesome fun so I am actually not that worried.

Hope everyone has a good week and that the rest of this year flies! Come on 2013!

Talk soon original.gif

Hi girls,

Just thought I'd check in and say hello original.gif cannot believe Christmas is so soon!

I really miss my grandparents at this time of year, all the family always gathered at their big place in Melbourne and it was always so much fun. Ever since they passed away over 6 years ago it seems we are lacking in tradition and everyone sort of floats around between other IL's and family members.

DH and I are not sure what we're going to do, we have a bunch of very good friends who all live in our suburb and we've just found out they are all in town for Xmas. All 3 other couples have babies and at least one parent from each couple is from OS so this rarely ever happens, my family (as mentioned above) are having an "off" year and even if we do anything it's always Christmas Eve as my folks are of European descent, so its looking more and more like a beach BBQ or something for Xmas day. I was thinking of getting DH a ping long table as his gift, I know he'd love it and they are surprisingly cheaper than I'd expected.

I think he is going to get me (or pay my portion of more like) a holiday to Hawaii with friends! Pretty exciting original.gif we only decided in the last week but thinking of going the last week in January for 7-10 days.

One of the couples we'll be spending Xmas with want to go and asked if we'd like to join them. I'm very excited as most of our other holidays are unplanned, go with the flow type things as that's what DH prefers but since we're going with these guys and they have an 8 month old bub it will be a 5 star resort/packaged deal - heaven! The boys will golf, surf etc. and me and the ther girl will shop, spa and order cocktails by the pool! original.gif

Ok, back on track with conversation - Julzely, have you had any more luck with GP's?

Zanbam - how are you going with the NYE plans? I always find the night such a let down, and the last few years we've usually done something local and low key which is always so much nicer! I'd be interested to know what you've got in mind.

Amellyne - I hope your move is currently in the process and going very smoothly original.gif how did the year 9 camp go?

Oh, my other news is that we applied for a home loan the other day and got approved so it looks like its time to start house hunting too which is very exciting!

Any more thoughts on TTC girls? I'm still doing ok off the BCP so I guess in theory we could conceive any time, but I'm pretty sure my AF isn't back to normal yet & no idea if I'm ovulating. I haven't bothered this time with OPk's and all that. I'm thinking that we wait until the new year and if nothing has happened without us preventing it from happening IYKWIM then we'll start to chart, use OPK's and DTD at the correct times.

Yikes!

Hi all

Im new here, DH and I are going to start TTC straight after my next period - due New Years Eve. I am so so excited and can not wait!! I feel as though thinking about Pregnancy and Babies is consuming me atm!! DH got me a Pregnancy Book for Christmas and I have been doing lots of research online.

Quick question for you all, I started taking Elevit with Iodine last week. Prior to this I was taking Swisse Womens Ultivite which I believe includes Folic Acid. Does it matter that at the time of TTC I wont of been taking the Elevit for at least a month??

Thanks
