I am a shocking eater and lack alot of vitamins and minerals. I dont eat until after work each day during the week, anywhere between 2.15 and 3.00.

I bought the womens Cenovis once daily mulri vitamins and says to have with morning meal. I dont have a morning meal, I have a giant drive thru coffee before work. Would it be ok to have the vitamin with it or would it do more harm than good?

I don't know if that's why they say to have it with food, but whenever I've tried to take a multivitamin on an empty stomach it makes me feel queasy.

It won't hurt you but probably won't be absorbed very well.

I don't think a multivitamin is going to help you much. You need to find ways of getting vitamins and minerals and fibrre via food, not via pills.

Can you have a smoothie rather than a coffee for breakfast?

Multivitamins usually reflux on me if I don't eat something when taking them. The taste of the reflux makes me want to vomit. Multivitamins do not taste good going down, and certainly not going up either.

Trying that always made me throw up within 10 minutes. I take mine with dinner.

Could you manage a smoothie with some supplements for breakfast instead of the giant coffee?

I just cant do anything remotley solid before 10-10.30 I have tried smoothies (different ones with the frozen smoothie cubes) Meal supplement shakes, quick oats, cereals. They make me dry retch. I might try a piece of toast, or even a crumpet or english muffin. Even the thought of those right now isn't good.

last time I tried a multivitamin on an empty stomach it came straight back up...yuck!

No idea why. I'm with a pp....take it with dinner.

Also, taking a multivit won't make up for missing breakfast...try a smoothie, or one of those up and go drinks, they have fibre in them and some other stuff so it's a better option than a pill.

Edited to add: just read your update - if breakfast is that hard for you then skip it and have something a bit later! I also don't really enjoy breakfast and skip it quite a lot. I usually have an apple or some ryvita (or a cupcake) at 10.30 instead. I know all the advice is to eat breakfast, but that is the problem with general advice, it doesn't work for everybody!

They also recommend them in the morning as some multivitamins have ingredients that can give you a bit of an energy boost - so the idea is not to take them before bed. And as someone else said, they're absorbed better with food.

If I take a multi vitamin on an empty stomach I feel very, very nauseous. Not a nice feeling.
