Hi, I'm overweight, (5"8, weighing 130kgs, 15 weeks pregnant) I have lost nearly 20kgs due to lapband surgery in June. Getting pregnant wasn't on the cards for this year but you know, things happen.

I'm worried when I go for my 20 week scan, that they won't be able to see the baby properly.. I've read overweight people have problems with their ultrasounds, so far I've had internal ultrasounds but they say at 20 weeks you can't see all the baby so you don't have the internal ultrasound.

Any advice?

You'll be totally fine. They'll probably start with an external (on the lower tummy) u/s and then also do an internal (giant dildo cam) u/s. I had the same weight issues as you, OP, and my baby could be seen easily via internal u/s from 5 weeks, and easily via external u/s from 12 weeks. Congrat's on your pregnancy

I've been so nervous that when I go for my 20 week scan I won't get a scan done, but I feel there is now hope! Cheers

With both my girls, I found they could see almost everything at 20 weeks, but I had to go back around 23-24 weeks so they could get a better look at the heart and nose. The reports always said this was due to the "maternal habitat", which is a nice way of saying they could see through all my fat. Annoying, but just one of those things, I guess.

Sure they didn't say 'maternal habitus' - unless you live underwater, or in the Amazon, or somewhere else they couldn't wheel an ultrasound machine to?
