Hi have a small problem for a few months there has been a cat hanging around my place I don't think he has a home but the last day or so it has started calling out to me at the door and has been very affectionate and loving. Should I call the pound to come and get him? or will he leave in time? he seems well and all except for his ear (looks like ear mites). I have check if it is a he can you tell if they have been desexed or not?

Cats that have been desexed will often have a tattoo in their ear. Have a look in both ears for a small green tattoo.
You could take the kitty to your local vet for a scan to see if they are microchipped and then hopefully you will be able to contact their owner. If not microchipped you could maybe contact the Animal Welfare League branch near you for further advice if you do not know anyone who wants a new kitty. |

Thanks sarah I will check when I get home. I asked next door it does not belong to her so she is going to ask a few people in our street if they know who belongs to. He is a beautiful cat.

He is gorgeous.
The vet will tell you if he is desexed, however, a mature cat's testicles are quite prominent - they kind of poke out a bit, IYKWIM. I hope you can find his owner, or a foster/rescue that can take him. |
