I heard an add for this on the radio yesterday
http://thefertilitycentre.com.au/dandenong/IVF-costs

Strangely, on their website, you send in your police checks to MIVF..

I know there's more to consider than the price, but if we don't have luck with MIVF after two stim cycles, then we'll be out of any credit card cashola...

Thinking this might be a good option for us then (if need be! ...hopefully not necessary!!!).

mm..the cost list doesn't include the drugs. I know when i picked up my last lot of drugs the nurse told me it was over $3000 worth of drugs..so unless they did include them and its just not written down, then id say the out of pocket expense won't be much different to other clinics. Its certainly worth enquiring though.

Tho come to think of it, when you were told that, did they just mean the cost prior to medicare rebates?

I know MIVF doesn't include medication but then says to allow up to $450 for out of pocket costs, which doesn't seem too bad.

Just received a speedy reply...
Any medication is usually included in the treatment costs.
The only time you would need to pay for anything is if you are prescribed the oral contaceptive pill, Estrogen tablets or progesterone pessaries. None of these are covered by the goverment.
These would be prescribed only if there is a need for them; they are not routine meds.
Hope this helps.

There's a similar place just opened on the Sunshine Coast. The do pick up cycles for about 1/3 of normal cost. Catch is that you then have to do FET at their regular clinic at normal price. Same doctors rotate thru both clinics. They say you see whatever Drs on that day rather than the same one everytime and appt times are less flexible. I thought about it for five min, but convenience and seeing same dr is important to me and I spend more on FET than once a year pickups.

I notice they said things like progesterone pessaries are not included - just be aware that they are expensive. At the moment they are costing me $200 per week, by the time I have my 7 week scan next week thats almost $1000, and at this stage I don't have a finishing date for needing them. Luckily the first few weeks were included in the medication costs, but we definitely didn't anticipate needing to spend quite so much each week.

The other thing is to check do they do all IVF services such as Gift, Mift, PGD etc or do they then need to on refer for the more complex stuff... I say an add in my local paper about this today and I must admit it did get my interest and was wondering how they do the billing etc. i am assuming they are lodging the bills to Medicare as unpaid so getting gap payment only.....Will be interesting to see what the flow on effects will be to other clinics as well......
