Need a little help in choosing a carrier..

Need something suitable from birth up to toddler - that ticks all the boxes; comfy for both myself and bub; supportive (i get lower back pain) and looks good?

Ive looked up and see a lot about ergobaby - now ive also seen manduca?
Is there much of a difference between the 2?

Any preferences?

Manduca can be used from birth, Ergo will need an additional insert. Can you go to a babywearing meet and try a few out?

Personal choice really. They both have variants with attractive colours/prints.

To use an Ergobaby with a new born you need their infant insert thingy.

Manduca has an inbuilt infant insert.

Babywearing meet? Where can I look into this?
May have to bring my nephew until my own baby comes along!

Ergo now also have a bundle of joy, that includes the insert, so you dont need to buy the insert as an extra purchase... so thats no problem

What area are you? If you look on Facebook you may be able to find a babywearing group near you.

I've heard that the Ergo Baby insert can get quite hot so if you're having a Summer bub then the Manduca might be better.
I got my Manduca from Babyville as the Manducas are on sale, making it a fair bit cheaper than the Ergo.

I have a Manduca, I chose it over the ergo because:

it has the newborn insert built in so no need to buy extra things

It is organic cotton for the same price as the non-organic ergo

The straps can be unclipped and crossed across you back when baby is on your front.

It fits more body shapes better (in particular small framed people and very tall)

The size is adjustable with a zipped section of the carrier, zipped up it is slightly smaller than the ergo, unzipped it is larger. Thus makes it better for small babies and allows for longer use with tall toddlers.

I have quite a few different styles of carriers and would recommend the Manduca if you only want to buy one for all stages.

I love my ergo carrier but found the newborn insert very hard to use. I could not get baby into the newborn insert in a way that I felt comfortable with. I used a sling instead for when baby was really little. The ergo carrier is fantastic for older babies and even toddlers. I loved being able to carry my son when he was quite big on my back.
