I've noticed that a pretty high proportion of EB members are studying Nursing or Midwifery (including myself).

Just wondering if anyone has any comments/thoughts on this?

I did some teaching at UTS this year for first year nursing. From appearances (whatever that's worth, is it possible to tel lif someone has had kids before by just looking at them?!) most of the students seemed pretty young and not yet mums. Didn't notice any baby bumps hehe.

I've just finished my first year of a midwifery degree and I would say that at least two thirds of my cohort have children. I guess it's either good or bad experiences in our own lives that drive us to become better midwives.

I have always wanted to be a midwife but I never thought I would actually get in LOL.

When i went to open day at uni i would say a majority of the people there were mid to late 20's including myself. i guess its a choice. i decided to have my kids first and study afterwards.
i also had no idea what i wanted to be or do. After i had my third child i decided that i want to be a midwife. I had the best midwife. She was so strong and loving. She changed my whole view on birth and nursing in general.
i have had 2 more children since then and im still passionate actually i think im more passionate about midwifery now.

Its great to see so many mums wanting to be nurses/midwives. Its not just a job. its a life and a passion. You cant do nursing/midwifery for money. you have to do it for love.

I certainly think a lot of people get into nursing or midwifery when they are older, and often after having kids is a time that people look for a career change. Just like there is a lot of people that go on to do teaching after they have had their children. For me, I wasn't aware that you could do direct entry midwifery until I had my 3rd child, so it wasn't even an option before that.
