I'm trying to work out when we start with this as we're going on a mini holiday (five days, about 2.5 hours away).

With an antagonist cycle with MIVF, what days are we are likely to have checkup appointments? And how many?

Pretty clueless at the moment and our info session isn't for another few weeks, thanks to waiting on police checks...

PS Every day feels like five hundred years, so I really don't want to wait until afterward. wink.gif

PPS Having an OCP start so that's how I can somewhat pick the dates (by taking it longer/shorter).

Mirror, mirror, shiny glass, tell me that is NOT my ass!!
It's pretty hard to work out when the tests will be done.

When AF arrived I started the injections on CD2 and first BT was on CD7 and I think first U/S on CD9 I think and I had EPU on CD12 - but everyone is different on how quickly they respond.

ETA: I'm not with MIVF

expect appointments for scans every 2-3 days from the start of the cycle until egg collection. Egg collection is hard to predict but I have not heard of anyone having this later than day 21 of a cycle. Transfer will then be 2 days later if you are having the standard MIVF transfer but they also do day 3 or 5 transfers in some situations. The only other thing to keep in mind is that during your 2ww you may want to avoid certain foods and anything that could cause overheating so depending on what your plans are for your holiday it could be worth waiting until your 2ww is over. But after saying all that if you do get a BFP or you have a low positive then you may need follow up scans and appointments so maybe aiming for the 2 week wait may be the best time. Booking a holiday is really tricky and I know for years it felt like our life was on hold because it is hard to work things around IVF.

Hi,

I wouldn't try & go on holidays during a cycle - everyones cycle is different - I stimed for 14 days (poor responder) had blood tests & scans every 2/3 days to see how everything was going - egg pick up was a Friday & transfer the following Wednesday (5 day blasts). We had planned on a shorter more normal cycle - but it didn't work & my husband had to travel for work so was away most of the cycle anyway, came home & ended up providing a sample which was prepped & frozen as he couldn't be with me on egg collection day - so we did an ICSI cycle - sperm injected into the egg rather than leaving the egg & sperm in a "test tube".

I'd go away after your cycle - HTH

Thanks soooo much for the info ladies! Unfortunately the accommodation is all paid for so we can't change the dates (also there are other people involved so can't for that reason too), but DH will have other company so I'm thinking of just driving up for test/scans. Holiday is for 4-5 days, so I guess I should count on two trips... which will mean 10 hours total travel time! A killer but I think I'd prefer that over waiting until afterward. Maybe for the second scan we can just come home early, we were planning on leaving a day early anyway. Yes yes, I think it should be fine.

Thanks again original.gif
