Hello - was hoping others with thyroid issues could share their thoughts with me.

I have been on thyroxine for well over 10 years and it's generally quite stable but over the last year it went a bit out of whack. Am currently on 200mcg Mon-Thurs and 100mcg Fri-Sun. My last results showed: TSH - 0.95, FT4 - 24 and FT3 - 5.2 My doctor seems to think the current dose is ok but my FT4 is high (normal parameters 10-20). I will be seeing my FS in December so will ask him his thoughts but wondered if anyone on here knew much about these levels and TTC?

Is the doctor your GP or your thyroid specialist? My GP thought my levels, which were heading towards 10 times what they should've been, were alright to just wait out Even within the normal range people can still suffer from symptoms, so the levels aren't always a clear indicator of how well or not you are.

They look a little high to me, but there are some FSs who prefer ladies to be a little over-treated while TTC. So while my GP likes be TSH to be under 5, I've heard of FSs who like the TSH to be under 2.

There are risks to both over and under treatment of thyroid problems during pregnancy, and your FS is the best person to make a recommendation, and to refer you to an endocrinologist if necessary.

So very true, I had a few symptoms at a "normal " range, cold feet, brain fog, achy limbs, although bareable, somedays i was waiting to go back to bed the moment after i had awoken, not a very good quality of living!

Im sorry I cant help with levels as I can never remember what mine are. But..

My endo liked me to be on a slightly stronger dose while TTC. I was pregnant the first month we tried (at 41 years old!), and have the most perfect DD.

Thanks everyone. This is just my GP, not the FS (who I see in December). It looks like my TSH is perfect for TTC but the FT4 might not be, but I'm not sure how much that affects it all.

There's just so many factors to take into account in this TTC business!!!

You do want your T4 levels to be right, as both too high and too low can be associated with miscarriage. I think this is something that you really do need your FS's opinion on, and perhaps ask about a referral to an endocrinologist - a reproductive endocrinologist if possible.

Thanks KRT - it's definitely something I want the FS to look at and, agree, it might be time to see an endocrinologist too. I have been told by doctors in the past how essential it is to have it all within the right parameters

I was diagnised with hypothyrodism (hashimotos) at week 6 pregnancy and after 2weeks time I had a miscarriage. I'm looking for a good endo who can really take care of my problem to start ttc. Could you please let me know who your endo and where he/she is coming to. Thank You so much.
