Hi Ladies,
I'm on Day 3 of clomid. (I used Clomid with DD1) Just wondering a couple of things: 1. Can I use OPK's? 2. Can I chart - or does CLomid make these things useless. 3. Last time I used CLomid I was monitored via blood tests, this time i'm not being monitored - is that right? 4. (Please don't flame me) Can I still use the Blue swaying diet with Clomid. I'm not strict, but general positions / almonds / tomatoes / banana's etc. Don't get me wrong - we would be eagerly as happy with either sex, but if swaying DOESN'T hinder / hurt the process, a little swaying for blue is what we have been trying to do. (Although all the swaying in the world wont get you pregnant if you aren't ovulating - hence the Clomid!! LOL) 5. Finally, last time (7 yrs ago) I recall really bad side effects - this time nothing? Does that mean it's not working? Thanks heaps for any responses! |

Hi There,
I used Clomid for the first time in late October, days 2-6. And luckily fell pregnant on our first try! So good luck!! 1. I used OPK's and they worked for me around day 13 and 14. 2. I also charted my temps everyday and to be honest i had a very good feeling before i testes that it would be positive because my temps were so strong and high..so i def recommend charting!! 3. I think you should go to your GP and get a blood test referral, for day 21. Its the only way you'll b able to know for sure if you ovulated. I got mine done on day 23 and when i got my results to say i ovulated i was so happy i went home and testes straight away..and got 3 BFP! 4. To be honest im not sure about this one! 5. I didnt have any symptoms on Clomid. I was in Byron bay for the first 3 days on clomid and it was 30 degrees so i was hot and tired but that was probably just Byron bay weather. The last few days i didn't get any symptoms either..so dont stress! Hope that helps! FX to you! |

Thanks heaps for any responses! 1 - can't comment on OPK's as I've never used them. 2 - I gave up charting as Clomid made my temps erratic and could never pick up O even though BT's were. 3 - IMHO why use the Monster Drug if you aren't getting tracking done! Yeah it's all good and well to get a 21 day test - but it only tells you have O'd not when you O'd. ETA: This cycle I took Clomid CD2-6 and I O'd on CD11 - so you could be missing the boat completely without tracking. 4 - No Comment 5 - I'm assuming you have taken 3 tablets - my side effects are worse as teh month progresses. 1. You can but depending on why you're on clomid they may not work, I have PCOS and opks dont work as I always have elevated lh so always get positives.
2. Definately can chart, it worked well for me. 3. No that's not right, you should demand monitoring. Your doctor is being irresponsible. Clomid can have nasty side effects which can permanently impact on your fertility. I had blood tests and ultrasounds to track follicle development. I would change doctors if they weren't willing to monitor me. 4. My SIL swayed while on clomid and it worked for her, no other experiences with this. 5. I had no side effects so can't help. Hope that helps! |

OPKs still worked well.
Charting temp - I think my temp was a bit higher than normal taking clomid but It was still easy to see when I'd Oed. Monitoring - I had blood tests the first time but my next Dr didn't do any monitoring because I was a pedantic opk user and charter. Side effects depends on dosage. When i was taking 3 tablets per day the side effects weren't nice. This post has been edited by Angelina Ballerina: 26/11/2012, 12:54 PM |

Thankyou so much for all your replies!
I truly appreciate it! I will chart. Do I use OPK's from Day 10 or from when I finish Clomid?? I have also called the Ob today and asked for blood testing to be done. The receptionist said she would get back to me, but didn't think that was normal. So I will wait and see. Finally, thanking you again for your comments about swaying, our sole aim is to catch that eggy, so blue or pink is not an issue. My main reason for asking was that I had read somewhere that you should stop all soy products etc (apparently used to 'sway pink') on Clomid as this counteracts it's effectiveness, so I didn't want any of the 'boy' food to innocently interfere with conception. I will just continue to eat healthily rather than specific foods. Thanks again |

I've looked into this a lot with good quality studies and the only thing that will really sway blue in a noticeable way is eating a big bowl of cereal for breakfast (maybe it's just because you're having more kilojoules over the day - they're not sure). This will give you a 59% chance boy.
I wouldn't be worried about other things as they make such a minor difference. (Minor improvement with potassium, calcium, and vitamins C, E and B12). Positions make no difference. Timing makes no difference. (I'm not looking to sway but I'm a research junkie). |
