Hi all,
Thought I'd show you my rescue from today - 5 kittens, under a shrub in a front garden. I'm going back in the morning to try and trap Mum who's extremely timid, but for now all kittens have been topped up and are safely snoozing in their new home - a carrier in my room: ![]() I tried luring Mum into the carrier with the kittens as bait, but she's going to take time. Can you see her under the car ? Just a little white paw ? ![]() I've tried all the usual bribes - food, squeaky kittens, shelter - she's not falling for it so I think a trap it may need to be. Serves me right for opening my mouth in the other thread about Toast This post has been edited by mewsings: 26/11/2012, 10:23 PM |

Good luck catching mum. I did this many, many years ago, the mum put an enormous scratch in my friends arm, which is still scarred 16 years later - but it was worth it!
We had two of the kittens for 16 beautiful years, my parents has the other kitten for 17 years and the mum lived out her life with my friend - who forgave her for her initial standoffishness! |

Yep. I did one of those last summer...and wore scratches for a while. We found KFC was REALLY good bait food!

At least the kittens have been great about taking a bottle. I do like watching their little ears wiggle once they've latched on |

I'm so glad that you're out there caring for those kitties.
Hope mummy cat is easier to catch tomorrow. (You could catch me with the right kind of KFC - I love their chippies). |

No luck catching Mum today, even with her babies squeaking. We've set up a trap now and have some fancy feast to tempt her. There seem to be a lot of roaming cats in the area she's from, so I'm expecting to maybe catch the wrong cats a few times first. Kittens seem happy enough on bottle, but I'd dearly love to get them back on Mum and avoid the 3 or 4 hourly feeding thing for the next few weeks. they haven't pooped on me yet but seem to be able to pee a river. |

Well, the trap took 30 minutes to succeed - she's now in a covered cage with babies who all went straight for the milk bar
She even let me pat her Last week's rescue kittens had two people visiting them for potential adoption today, so all in all, a great day ! |
