I love the look of the plantation shutters. But I like my bedroom to be 'cosy'. I like carpets in bedrooms (but floor boards elsewhere in the house). I love plantation shutters, but wonder whether it would be too cold feeling. anyone done shutters and curtains on the same window - or is that ridiculous overkill!

If it helps, our bedroom has pale grey capet, wooden sleigh bed with textured white on white linen, side tables and one large picture. I am thinking about putting an occasional chair in the corner. It has very high ceilings.

We are now a family of four! Girls rule the roost!
I also had the same question. In all the gallery places for shutters I haven't seen any with curtains and pelmet etc. I think the shutters are the clean look a bit more modern minimalist style where curtains tend to be very traditional. Not sure if the two work together but I'm replying in case someone responds in the positive!

If you google shutters with curtains, you'll get some pictures. I would be inclined to do it because I like to be able to have curtains open and natural light coming in, but turn the shutters so that it's not direct sunlight beating in.

We have plantation shutters and they look great - clean lines, uncluttered.

I'm tossing up though, whether to have just some side curtains (won't reach all the way to the middle of the window opening) just to add some colour interest into our lounge room. Shutters are white, walls are cream, carpet is a latte colour and new lounge suite (when we decide on one) will probably be dark brown.

So don't know if cushions will be sufficient to add enough colour to the room.

Also, OP, plantation shutters have great thermal qualities (especially when fully closed) so your rooms will be plenty cosy in winter and much cooler in summer.

We have plantation shutters (internal) and curtains on the same window. The plantation shutters really don't make a room dark. The curtains were in the master bedroom when they built the house, we have added them in to DSs room when we moved in
